RX8 is dead.... so I thought - 04.01.2010, 03:23 AM

I was about to go out and test my new Tekin system after changing my shocks and center diff but I only manage to run 10 feet nefore the ESC stopped. No sounds, no smoke, nothing. I ran it last Sunday afternoon 1 pack for 12 minutes) and I was raving how smooth it was compared to the Castle system but now it's dead. I have 2 more spares so I'm going to solder and install another one so I'm hoping it will not die too.

This sucks.

My setup are as follows:

Hyperion 5S 4300mah 25C lipo
46/15 with 20k oil on CD
Kyosho ST RR
Hitec 5955TG servo

Everything but the LVC is default. 4th light is on when connected to the Hotwire.

Edit: So I thought that my RX8 is dead but apparently it's not. I connected another battery and everything worked. With this in mind, I pulled out my Fluke multimeter and checked the voltage of the Hyperion. I got a reading of 16 volts when it was just freshly charged. I checked the cells on the balancer and one of the cells read 1.17V while the other 4 were reading 4.18.

So all is well.... False alarm .

By the way, on the MMM, it's punch control. What is it on the RX8?

WOW that was quick. Sorry to hear that Lito. Why not connect with Patrick or Joe directly and discuss the issue. I am glad that you are working through this up front before I delve into the Team Tekin RX8 system myself. Maybe I can learn some things from your experiences and avoid problems like this one. Plus see how well Tekin holds up on warranty issues. I hope you have better luck with the second one. Hey Lito when are you heading out to sea? This month, or next?

Jerry, all is well with the RX8. It was a dead cell on my hyperion that gave the false alarm. I'll be opening up the Hyperion and see what happened inside.

ANyway, I change some of the settings and now my truggy is super smooth.

Hey Lito thanks for the update. Good to know that your first experience with the TX8 has not turned out bad so quickly. That worried me. So anyway your liking the way it operates eh?? Good to know that it is working well for you. Now I am encouraged to get my order in when money becomes available. I will start out much the same with a couple of combos and a spare ESC. If all goes will I may start out trying it on my UE Lightning setup for high speed passes. Got to start somewhere.

Great. Thanks.

I set mine to 70% and I like it. I might try to raise it to 80 or 85 once I try this setting on the track.

Not sure on the tekin, but with my Mamba max I played with the punch, felt like the motor lost its magnet. running no punch control and adjusting with slipper and finger since

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise
