mamba max catching fire! - 04.07.2010, 01:40 PM

Hey all.

Last night i was doing some tweaks on my converted rc10gt, running a mamba max + 5700kv Castle motor. I had a 5000mah 2s 20c lipo in it. after my turn I turned the ESC off, and was doodling around in my house after setting the truck on my kitchen table. between 30 mins to 1 hour later I was outside smoking and I notice the car catch fire! my ESC had caught fire and was burning pretty damn good. I immediately jumped up and pulled the truck outside.

I unplugged the lipo which was not damaged (or even warm for that matter), but the ESC is completely destroyed. the case completely melted off, along with all solder points for the motor/battery/power switch/throttle control.

Do I have any chance in getting a replacement from Castle? this thing was brand new!

I usually do unplug it but I was going to go out for another run so I left it in.. didn't think the damn thing would just burst into flames.

It honestly shouldn't have...Contact Patrick or Joe on here and they should be able to get you straight.
