Tamiya 801x-E - 10.31.2009, 01:45 AM

i snaped a couple of pics of my conversion... the battery trays are from a caster fusion, the servo mount and radio box are from a losi 8, the motor mount is from Elite RC (Mugen mbx6)... the motor is a neu 1509 (1450kv) and the batteries are two 3s 3000mah in series to make 6s total... all run by a castle MMM... i also have a MMpro i might try...

as you can see its a tight fit but weight distribution is 50/50 F/R and L/R... you can go up to a 1512 size neu motor but not the 1515... you can use the same mount to do a traditional conversion with the battery on one side and the motor on the other as well...

i'm using a losi plastic spur (43t) which fits right onto the stock diff with a 13 pinion... this gearing should get to 35-40 mph with max motor rpm of 30-35k...

i haven't run it yet but i'm hoping it can make at least 15+ min...

I like it. Let us know the official running weight of the buggy once it's done. I'm curious if the 1509 will be enough to run it without heat problems.

I ran my 1509 in my mbx-5 on 4s w/no probs. It was a little warmer than the 1512 but, w/Neu quality, I wasn't going to worry

looks great, the 1509 should be fine as long as the buggy is lite or geared low

That looks fantastic, though you have rather stolen my thunder. (I was going to do a TRF for next season, with a pretty much identical layout to yours).

I'll have to find something else now.

Hey Marvin, you could still do one, but maybe play with the layout a bit if you can do a bit of machining. I know it was kicked around that a hybrid of the Hyper 9E layout with a caster fusion saddle setup could be interesting (battery up front, center diff moved back, everything now tight to the center as possible like a hyper 9E).

Nah, I've bought a Ve8 now. I've got some mods and stuff lined up already though. I'm picking it up tomorrow - got it, lightened outdrives, an 18T pinion and the aluminium chassis skids for £240 GBP (about $400 - which is good over here - retail is £299.99, or $500)

I love the Elite RC motor mount. Awesome design for easy motor and pinion changes.

I really really really really really really really REALLY like that!

What is the finished weight on that? I think you will find the 1509/2.5Y on 6s to be a great set up for racing. I think it will do 15 min no problem with 3000mah batts geared for race speeds. I have same motor on 6s 2600 in my Ve8 and only put back 1400 to 1600 mah after 10 min. main + couple min. before/after race (small/tight track).

@Marvin: What power set up you going to run in yours?

I'm looking at (hopefully) 3S 5400mAh 40C ThunderPower saddle pack Lipos (bear with me ), a Tekin T8 2650kV, on a Mamba Max Pro. I've got an idea to make it really well balanced when not using a brake servo.

Failing that, either a Hyperion 2600mAh 6S VX pack, or a Thunderpower 45C 2650mAh 6S pack on a Tekin 1400kV T8 with an MMP.
