Hi guys,

I was at the track today and it was a bit wet. My ESC and electronics were fine, but I forgot about my reciever. At one my moment, I couldn't control the car anymore. I was running at 1/4 throttle but I got stuck some where so I was lucky. I checked the whole car but I didn't found anything. I tought it was just bad luck. I started driving again and when I ran out the pit, the car went his own again. Now with more throttle and hitted a pile and the car got damaged unfortunatly.

After that I tried to see what it was. The ESC of the receiver. When I tried to bind my receiver again, nothing happed. The light should start blinking when in bind mode. I opend the case and I saw no water, but the paper sticker inside the case felt a bit humid. I took the aircompressor and started blowing on the PCB. After that, the reciever would bind again. I throwed it in a pot of rice now to make sure all the water is out of the PCB.

But now I'm scared for corossion on the PCB and to test the reciever again. It always works perfectly on the car stand, till you start driving it on the track...

Should my receiver be fine? It wasn't soaked in water. It can be more than a few splashes.
When it works/bought a new one, I'd like to waterproof the whole reciever. What are my best bets for this? It's the stock reciever for an Airtronics M11x that I have in my buggy.

A simple balloon & ziptie is plenty of protection for an rx to water proof it, unless you plan on submerging the truck for any length of time. A good, sealed rx box ( traxxas? ) is also a nice solution as it gives you somewhere to bundle up the excess wires. I would rinse the esc with de-ionized water & allow it to dry thoroughly with a compressor & put it in a warm place overnight ( airing cupboard maybe ), then put it back in its case and use the balloon etc.

How long can I wait with the rinse? I pretty late now and everybody is sleeping so I can't start searching for it. I even don't know if we have it in our home.
I'm scared for corrosion on the pcb so I wanted to rinse it with alcohol (evaporates quickly) but I read on the internet that receiver are very sensitive for rinsing with water/alcohol.

It have it now in an airsealed box with rice in it to get all the water out of it. I guess I'll try my car with 30% epa or so next time :/ I don't wanna crash it again :x
