Which Redline motor for slash???

Hello folks

I need help choosing the motor for my RWD Slash!
I have a Tekin RS Esc, and must have an engine for it.

I run on the track with it.
My plan is 2c lipo, and I have put a module 1 40t spurgear on it.
I've looked a little after Tekin 10.5 Redline Sensored BL Motor with 13.0mm Tekin Redline S BL Torque Rotor.
Is it overkill??

What is your opinion and experience??

First off, you really need to get that mod-1 gear off and stick to 32 pitch or 48, easier to adjust gearing and are plenty strong. Second, what are the motor requirements for the class in your area, there has to be limits. I personally would go 13.5 or 17.5 with the big rotor in a slash, due to weight and maximizing torque

oh, now I have so many different pinion in Mod-1 and really very happy with it.
There are no rules for the engine, it's an okay great track with good jump and long sides to speed.

The problem is, that with the bigger teeth you will lose efficiency. It takes power to move through the teeth, the smaller the teeth, the easier, so more efficient. If you do not go to a smaller pitch gear, you may need a 550 novak or tekin to keep motors cool. Honestly, the only people running mod-1 anymore are buggy/truggy. I understand you have a lot of options, but the 40 is almost too small for gearing a stadium/sc truck and running a 540 based motor. If you are dead set, you really need something like a 21.5 or higher turn

Edit Using the tooth count to get diameter i getfor each pitch

48P 86 tooth(standard for slash i think) 1.83"

32 pitch 56 tooth (standard for Jato, comparable to the slash in size) 1.81"

Mod-1 40 tooth (gear you currently have)1.65"

There is enough difference in size to warrant worry in motor heating due to gearing short comings, I think you will be geared too tall with almost any gear you run

Okay, now I understand it.
Actually, I have problems with motor and esc heats up now with 2s lipo.
Pt is the HW 9T motor I put in because it was one I had available.

So shall I have switched back to the std gearing.
Could not understand that the same set was not particularly warm in my Jammin Scrt10

You have heating issues because you gear it very tall. I've Slash with mod1 gearing for only speed runs with a 550 size motor and high voltage (5s-6s lipo). For racing a motor like vxl around 3500kv is very ideal. İf you want to have a cool and more powerfull setup go for new tekin or novak 550size short course motors.I tried lots of motors on Slash and after so much experience I think 540size motors are a little weak for a truck like Slash. I ended up trying with a medusa 36/60/3100.

Ok, it is also my plan and try it when it arrives in stores.
But thought I could run with what I had until I bought the new Tekin.

Have just put std leverage in today, so I hope it can reduce engine heat

Thank you boys, by switching to std gearing reduced the heat by half.
Even when the car bashed around, showed ESC no more than four LEDs after 5-7 minutes.
So I learned more about gearing

a 13.5 or 10.5 setup with the RS will be a nice setup i personally run 13.5/rs in my sc10 and a 13.5/rs setup in my girlfriends slash... both are just right for mod class, easy to drive and just enough power although alot of people run 10.5s and 8.5s the leaders are all running 13.5s they are just easier to drive faster.

I've been running a 10.5 in my sc10 and for me its overkill. Most of the time I have the throttle epa set to 80%. I've also run the same setup in my slash before I sold it, and I really liked the 10.5 in the slash. It just requires a smooth throttle finger.

Hello

I'm considering 13.5 now.
Would it provide any benefit and switch to 13.0mm BL HI-TORQUE ROTOR?
Can there be 13mm rotor when std is 12.5mm

Or should I choose 17.5 with 13.0mm BL HI-TORQUE ROTOR?

The high torque rotors really add a lot to a SCT truck. They're less affected by heat, have stronger brakes , and more torque on the bottom end.

I like the 13.5/12.5 High torque setup.

Okay, just got 13.5 mm 13.0mm BL HI-TORQUE ROTOR
Can not wait to get out and ride with my 2wd slash with the setup.

Have some suggestions for the setup of RS?
It is a great track with medium grip and small to medium-high jump
