So I bought a proline baja bug body for the revo...now how do I mount this thing??? - 10.20.2010, 12:03 PM

I will throw up pics later. I have not painted an RC body for about 7 years so I am a bit rusty. I painted her all up and did a rough trim job as I was excited to see it mounted on the revo. I throw it on top and....It does not fit!?

I ordered the "long chassis" revo version (I just checked my tower order page and it confirms the long chassis). I will measure it when I get home tonight to make sure they accidentally did not ship a "short version" (short = 17.63 // long = 19.25 length)

Before I ordered i measured the stock revo body and it was something in the 19 inch length.

The revo I have actually started life as a brushed revo... but they have the same length chassis, correct?

My problem is the only spot it looks like there is to mount the rear posts are the 3/4 inch wide / 3 inch long flat spot right above the "engine". If I mount that on that spot the front body posts are at the very front of the body right between the hood and the very-arched wheel wells. Because that spot is not flat if I drilled holes I would have to smash the body flat to get a body pin in....

Sorry for the hack explanation but if anyone has a baja body maybe you can take a look at yours (or post a pic)? Only thing I can guess is I just painted a short chassis body!!!

Sorry to say it but the Erevo chassis is slightly longer than the revo 3.3 chassis,

LAME!!! Let me guess...by about an inch?

This sucks a big one. I WILL find a way to mount it but I dont want to sacrifice the integrity of the body in doing so (resulting in a trashed body after a handful of runs).

Might just have to adopt the velcro mounting idea....put 4 tabs on the body post mounts and two strips on the battery trays. It still will look a little under-sized but at least this way I can run it!

if you find that tower sent you a short version, call them up. They'll send you right one for free.
If you find that it is the long version and it still doesn't work, well, you'll have to make due with it.

Well...I googled and found this guys erbe with a bug body. I am 99% sure I got the wrong body (unless they discontinued one that was even longer than the "long" version...which I doubt seeing as how the erbe probably sells more bodies than any older 2.5 length body).

This guy has his mounted on the rear where its supposed to go (flat section above engine), and has a solid 2 inches between the posts and the headlights (where as mine are right up toward the very front of the hood, pretty much would be coming out of the fenders/side of the hood, less than an inch from the headlights).

Darn it! I will have to measure when I get home to see what size I got. If they sent me the short version I think tower owes me two cans of paint and a long version! Of course I used most of my nice Monster Energy decals for this body too... O well.

proline put the wrong body in the right bag when I bought my slash body. Called up tower (not their fault, prolines fault) and they said, "oh, well, that's not our fault, but we'll send you the right body right away!", which pleased me greatly.
Just recently they sent me the wrong color A-arm, called them up, they told me to keep it, and the right one was on the way.
If you explain your situation you might be able to get the cans from them, but that's kind of your fault, I always check out stuff that I get in the mail right away to make sure it's what I ordered. :)

Good luck, and......get some pictures in here when you get home! ;)

Yes I like monster...and the color orange! lol

Ya I think im going to call tower and see what they say. Ya spraying the thing before test fitting is my fault but then again...I expect to get what I bought!

I am going to mount this thing anyway as I would rather run it than try and sell it on ebay for the 20 or whatever bucks I would get for it.

Disregard the rough cutting...I lost my body scissors so that was with some kitchen shears. I still have to take the dremel with the sanding wheel to clean it up!!!
