1/8th Truggy Motor - 05.14.2012, 10:35 AM

I recently purchased a Tamiya TRF810Xt Truggy. I will be running my Tekin RX8 ESC and I'm looking for a new sensored motor.

I'm running a Tekin T8 2000kv motor in my D8Te and it's been running great. Plenty of power on 4s and tons of power on 5s.

What would be another good motor to run on 4-5s that is sensored and has plenty of power to push a Truggy around, 10-12lb?

This will be for a bashing vehicle, I do not race at all.

Looking for speeds from 40-50mph.

Thanks for the help,
Nick

If Novak would build their truggy motor, I would say to try that one. There are not many sensored 4 pole motors available. Have you thought about running a lower kv truggy motor on 5s and using boost?

I wouldn't mind running a lower Kv motor, but which one? Another Tekin or soemthing else?

I was really looking to try something different in this truck. The Tekin motor has been working so good I don't really know why I want something else.

So right now I have a 2000kv, what would be the difference going to a 2250kv or 1700kv? Other than using different batteries how would either of these motors make much of a differnce compared to the 2000kv. All Tekin.

Thanks,
Nick

Staying with the same family of motors, the torque would be near the same. Just power band moves a bit.
I like the boost option as it gives me more things to play with, instead of getting bored with one setup. Going with the lower kv motor, makes it easier to drive at lower speeds and have the boost kick in at for speed. The higher kv motor will use more power and not so much fun to bash with other that zooming up and down.

Thanks Romano, maybe I'll try a 1700kv Tekin motor on 5s and play with boost.

How about a recomendation on a sensorless motor to try?

Nick
