its time to build a new truck.
i have two kids and they love my "BIG" truck(FLM MAXX)
of course will i build a truck to my spoiled kids...

i want the truck bulletproof, but i want it to be cheap...
where should i put the money?i have plastic arms and driveshafts because it cheap and easy to change when they crash, but some parts should/must hack a crash.

i have:
-FLM chassi
-FLM towers
-ofna shocks
-stock a-arms
-stock plastic driveshafts
-stock diffs
-stock carrier(?)
-stock wheels

-what kind of bulkheads should i choose? is the stockplastic bulks okey or should i buy some in alu?

-moter/esc options for a slow BL truck? i want them to grow into the speed.
maybe run it with 2s paralell and the change to serie?

thanks guys..

I would put the money into the diffs., then trans to make them bombproof. Good bulks are a good idea as well as kids will hit more stationary objects than an adult would. The combo bulks/diff set up Mike sells is very nice and it uses 1/8 gears to really make it sweet! Also in the RCM store are alternatives if that is too expensive. Arms and driveshafts are easy enough to change so rpm arms would be good. On say a 4s set up a mmm/Tekin esc would be good.

The problem w/limiting speed is that the esc's run cooler/best at higher voltages and speed when geared correctly. ( more efficient ) So for a motor say a 2000kv truggy motor on 4s will be a good starting point....not crazy fast but fast enough to keep them entertained. They, kids, will have to learn throttle control.

Not necessarily... But overtime, I would say yes.

However, if you want to stay cheap, I would run the newer Emaxx's drivetrain and keep the power levels low for the kids.

You could probably run a MMM/2650 system in on 2-3s and be fine.

I need the pro diff in my other truck for My CD project so its perfect. I have a lightning diff to put in this truck.

No & no- I killed 2 motors the same as that, they hate heavy alloy trucks, and I know someone ( a douche actually, but anyway... ) who had that esc and killed it in a truck much lighter than a maxx.

If you want cheap and reliable, but not excessivelty powerful = hvmaxx pro systems. Opt for th 6.5 or 7.5 motor versions, they can be found on ebay for only $190 which is pretty good value, and they perfrom just fine on 2x 2s lipo, geared for 30-35mph in a ~10lb truck.

Otherwise, look into the hobbywing XErun 150amp esc and 4168 2200kv motor- about $50 or so cheaper than an MMM system, pretty much just as powerful ( motor is a little smaller, but still 4 poles ).

A system with good customer service is fairly important, wouldnt like to imagine how young children would drive a BL maxx- need to learn throttle control before they fry the esc and motor....

http://cgi.ebay.com/TWO-UE-SPIDER6-U...item3a5befe512

Complete UE 1/8 diffs and cases- should sell for about $150 usually ( normally about $250-300 new ).

If you just want to buy the cases ( new ), then only UE sell them, and only to USA residents, so... impossible to get basically, only if they appear for sale on ebay or for sale on a forum.

If they are the ordinary bulks like this:

then yep, they will fit just fine.

You can use Mike's output shafts too yes, just like I did: clicky

As for which is best... I'd say they are about even really. The hybrid bulks will be a bit lighter, but if you damage them you have to replace a larger part vs just one cheap bulk. The UE diff cup is aluminium ( ofna spider technically speaking... ) so will be a bit stronger, but its rare that you will see a broken HB diff using a plastic cup. $$$ wise, they are pretty even, being equally expensive
