I know there are a few threads about 1/5 conversions but I'm interested in the XBE exclusively

Before I put any money down, I've heard mixed feedback about parts availability - does anyone have any experience?

Wheel tyre options seem limited - am I correct? especially onroad options...?

Motor options - I've seen a couple of 1717's, has anyone tried anything else?

Gearing - that motor mount seems limited. Is there a different size spur? I'd like to use the RCM Mod 1.5 pinions but I'm concerned there's too few options

I've got one with a CC1520, stock ESC and an upgraded steering servo (Hitec 5645) with a sportbec bec to power it. I love it. Baja wheel adaptors are available, making all wheel options there available. Also, some FG wheels and other 1/5 scale brands that use the square adaptor will work as a direct fit.

Handles great. Plenty fast and jumps like an 1/8-scale buggy.

Thanks killajb, you've got a heat sink + fan, does the 1520 get hot?

The adapters are $80 but seem to be worth it in opening up tire selection. Even with an off brand redcat stepping up to 5th scale does mean stepping up spending.

The MMM/1717 combo are the hot ticket. There are 2 guys on the above forum coming forth with aftermarket parts for weak points. Stock parts are easily available from redcatracing.com. All in all I see no reason not to purchase this car.

I wish I had known before I took the e5b plunge. I could have had 2 or 3 of these. Oh well.

I have a 1717 as well, and started out with it in there. But I've found that the 1520 runs cooler and seems more suited in my ride. Heatsink and fan were items I had already and installed just-in-case. Can't really hurt.

I was under the impression they only fit the XT because the XBE has a different size hub???

The XB, XT, and XB-E all use the same front/rear suspension and drivetrain setup. The main differences are in the chassis layout. They all use the FG square drive, and the wheels/tires from many FG squared vehicles will work just fine. The stock motor is somewhat disappointing but its still faster than a decent gasoline car out of the box.
Im still running the stock wheels/tires, after replacing the foams of course. They are small light and very effective on the track. Sure I managed to strip one out but that was after several hours of runtime. A little JB weld, a dremel, saran wrap and itll be as good as new :D

What's the specs on the esc? .... and motor?

Motor is a Leopard 1090kv & ESC is MGM 63V 250A
