HB Lightning II Pro Conversion Complete! - 03.31.2006, 01:26 PM

I finished my HB buggy conversion yesterday and ran it for the first time. I am using two Flightpower 4S LiPo's, Feigao 9L and the BK 12020 Warrior Controller. I don't have a lot of experience with 1/8th buggies but it was fast (if not faster) than any nitro buggy I have ever seen. It flat out hauls!
I have to mount the motor better to ColdFusion's motor mount, but that's the only issue I had yesterday (after landing from a high jump, the motor would move a bit and I would lose the mesh between the pinion and the spur). Mike, thanks for all your help and the spur adaptor you made was fantastic.
The motor temps were between 73 and 146 degrees. Maybe next weekend I will bring it out to the track and see what it can do against the nitro buggies. Why in the world doesn't OFNA, HB, Kyosho, or anyone come out with a 1/8th ELECTRONIC buggy kit? These companies don't know what they are missing.
Matt

Sorry! I don't want to endure "board scorn"!! :005:
A lot of the "extra" wires that you see are for the Nomadio sensors. It is great to keep track of battery pack voltage and engine temp on the "fly".

Andy, not totally sure yet. I have not run it long enough to completely drain the batteries. I was running it yesterday, just bashing around in front of my house, for about 15 minutes before my motor moved in the mount. I did not get a chance to run it today. I will know more this weekend.

Hi Joe,
I saw the video of your BL buggy! That thing is fantastic! It is hard to compare but I would guess that I am a little slower than yours in terms of acceleration but not that far behind. I was REALLY surprised by the acceleration of my buggy on a 4s LiPo. Originally, I was planning to go with a 5s LiPo but I am glad that I didn't.
Thanks!!
Matt

dda, did you searched your way thru the forum? what is that you want to know?

Mpetrich; i thought you used the flightpowers in 6S, after a close look, i realized that it was a 4S2P configuration, that thing will have a very long runtime..!

With a big motor and a powerfull controller, a 4S2P will be more powerfull than a 6S.
