MMM firmware update issue with Field Link? - 02.27.2012, 01:13 PM

Just bought the Field Link for use with my MMP's, but decided to check out how the field programmer would work with one of my MMM's. Plugged it in to the MMM (V3 AFAIK) and if I tried to adjust any settings it would blink and reset to the top setting on the card. So I figured the card or ESC needed an update. Sure enough the card had an available firmware revision. Updated that. MMM was on 1.24, which has worked perfect but updated that as well. Dialog box shows up stating the update has failed!? Tried several firmwares and nothing worked. The ESC would provide power to the Rx but would not arm. So I tried another usb port, restart computer, disable the BEC and use a lipo, etc. to no avail.

Finally I figured I would try updating the ESC with a regular castle link, and what do you know, it worked. Went to the tried and true 1.24 and left it at that. Now it will program settings with the field link, but it still will not update the firmware with it. I must use the castle link for that. It's not that big of a deal, but I was looking forward to having an all-in-one solution with the Field Link.

I'm not sure if its a hardware issue with my Field Link, or maybe the ESC is too old or what. Either way, any input would be appreciated, because I would like to have the Field Link work as intended.

Thanks in Advance

I'm not sure -- haven't heard of an issue like this.

Can you call our Tech support guys? They can probably help you work it out.

Thanx!

Patrick
