Rc-M 808E chassis kit - 06.09.2010, 01:58 PM

this is continued from the race thread as i didnt want to spam up the thread.

I must confess that i went down to the race completely unprepared for the buggy class, i built a new 2010 spec kit during PRACTICE and then spent the entire day of qualifiers dialing it in with the help of xray pilot Ryan Lopez, He brought over his factory 808E (B) version for me to setup the electronics. After seeing the factory kit in person it was as big of a dissappoinment as we all thought, the radio box is a PITA to get too and entire setup is not very maintenance friendly. Ryan even commented on how much better of a setup this is. Thank goodness we have mike to build our conversions the way they SHOULD be built.

agian this is a first version, the radio box as small as it is, actaully has my rx and transponder inside. the car now has an Rx8 i got from Randy Pike a the race and has an Airtronics servo. I'm sure most will notice the rear chassis brace this was done quickly just for my car so im not entirely sure what the production setup will have. It uses the stock front chassis brace. But you definetly wont be bending any rear center cvds anymore.

so here is the teaser pic.

nope just an xray center diff with a AE 46t plastic spur. (if you do this remember to use the AE diff o-ring on the spur side as the xray one is too small OD)

btw smartdiffs/ activediffs and brushless do not work worth a damn....

I have been saying that for 2+ yrs. Hopefully before long some manufacturer will ask Mike to do a kit for their rides and the rest of the other mans. will realize their short comings

Just got home from the RC Pro Series NE round 1 race at my home track, CRC in Rome, NY. There was no class to race my Electric truggy in as their rules specifically state that electric and nitro can't run together. I don't have a buggy yet so that left me racing my SC10 in the SC class. First round of qualifying sucked, it was a mud bath, my truck gained almost 2 lbs and had no power to clear anything. Second round was going great, I was leading the heat until my motor fried with about 15 seconds on the clock. I wound up qualifying 8th in the B main. Bought ANOTHER motor and loosened my slipper (to much). I finished 3, which to me was really about fifth or sixth overall since the top half of the A was all pro guys. Another RCM member was there as well, Stum. He qualified for the A in SC and electric buggy, not sure where he finished in them though.

Big story of the weekend was ProBuggy A Main. Billy Fisher, Losi factory driver, was racing all weekend in both Pro Truggy and Buggy. During the Buggy race he got hit, wound up upside down and got hit again, which resulted in a broken left rear shock. This happened about 7 minutes in and he had lapped all but 2 drivers I beleive. He continued running for a couple minutes, maintaining his position but giving up about a second per lap. Came in and his pit guy changed the shock, only losing one lap. He worked his way back up to 3rd with about 5 to go in the 30 minute main. With 3 to go he took over second, but the leader was still 20 seconds ahead. The leader made a couple of mistakes and on the second to last lap he resumed his position out front and won the race! I know if I had broken a shock, I prolly would have just pulled my truck and called it a loss.
