Bricked MM using C-link - 07.17.2013, 06:37 PM

Hey guys maybe one of you can give some advice. I was updating my Mamba Max firmware today and I did not think it was working as well as it did on V1.21 so I tried to go back to 1.21 but the reversion failed and now the ESC will not connect to C-link and it does nothing when I try to drive, no beeps, no flashes.

Never mind, I loaded an older version of the Castle software and was able to get it back.

Hi Buzzsaw,

Although it's not impossible to completely brick a MM or MMM or MMP during firmware updates, it's pretty hard.

The bootloader is in low memory, and usually doesn't get erased or updated. So as long as the lowest block of memory is still good, you can recover.

If the program is corrupted, the ESC won't operate (it will act "dead") but the bootloader should still be operational -- and as long as it powers-up through a Castle Link, you should be able to upload a new firmware program.

Thanx!

Patrick
