zip tie land!

14 cells i hear is pushing it, but you'll survive. 16 cells is a garenteed burnout.

What is wrong with zip ties - I used to use them to hold my batteries in - They were the only thing that would hold them without breaking during the flipping... :D

Hows that "Hope and Change" working out for Ya???

If you try more cells, gear down a little. You should be safe. I wouldn't go over 16 cells, though.

Thanks for the replies guys

This set up is quite quick but I'm looking for a bit more power.
would it be a better option to get a different motor?
if so which one?

As for the zip (we call them cable) ties. they have soooo many uses, the best of which Ive found is subduing the kids :L:

The 9L or 10L will give a bit more torque. The 9L is great for 12-14 cells, while the 10L is nice up to 16 cells. If you really want torque, the 7xl is quite a beast.

Im actually in teh same boat as Cabking
Im currently runnign a c50 on 14 cells, but the c50 is getting very hot, and as such im looking to downgrade teh c50 and maybe chuck it in somethign else.
I 2 have a 18.97.
Im really looking for the most powerfull motor i can use with the 18.97. Iv heard greathings about the Bigmaxximum, but in these very froums iv read the 7XL is almost as good and a fraction of the price.

if you could post your suggestion with maximum cell count that would be great.

The 7xl is a monster for sure. i would think it may even outperform the big maximium in some areas. There is a user on these forums that uses it on 18 cells (9918 warrior controller). 16 cells is a no brainer. Just keep the wires as short as possible (especially with the Schulze stuff) and you should be able to run 16-18 cells with this motor and the 18.97. And it will be a MONSTER for sure in the power department.

The 10L is lighter, smaller and will be a little faster on the same gearing. Not everyone needs a bigblock!

With 14 cells, I would run the 66 spur gear and a 20-22 tooth pinion to start. This will get you to the upper 30mph range(36-38mph). For speed, you would want a smaller spur, more cells and/or a bigger pinion. 14 cells with 22/66 will run quite nice, though.

Im really trying to work out the best setup for my e-maxx, but tbh i dont really grasp the basics of what makes a good motor and what makes a bad one.

The e-maxx im trying to build will be for racing on a track.
Maximum cells i really want to use would be 14-16 as any more i feel would weigh the thing down more than id like. The most important factor has to be reliability for me( that means it has to run cool and no chance to thermal the controller as my C50 on 14 Cells is a bit of a hot fecker)
Power is important but i think that may be more about willy waving than practicality. Iv heard the 7XL can run the controller very hard and that a 9L on the same gearing can be faster.
