Brushless Rustler - 01.05.2007, 12:50 AM

Hello all, this is my first post here at RC-Monster.
Here is my Lexan chassis Mamba Max 5700kv Rustler. The chassis is custom, btw.

Well, the Mamba Max is nothing short of amazing! It's soooooo powerful!!!
I got the lexan at http://mcmaster.com
and the balance is great. No wheelies with this setup because it's so long.

Is the trans and suspension from the new style rustler? What gearing are you using for the mm5700? Nice piece you have built there :)

The chassis flex doesn't seem to bad at all, I can't really tell though. Those Masher 2000's really helped with takeoff and turning though. My previous tires (Worn down stampede tires) would spin out easily and I couldn't turn very well either. The tranny is from the old style, but it also has an aluminum idler gear. Gearing is 17/81, too high, I know. I could find a big enough spur gear.

Looks pretty sweet! you could move the batt forward a tad for handling too. Even it out a bit.

It looks great! Id put the battery forward for a evened out weight, it also wont be so prone to wheelies if done so.

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

His chassis is extended so wheelie's aren't that big of a concern I think as he stated. But for better weight distribution I would move the batt forward a tad...(i think i said that though):032:

Yea i read all the posts in the thread, dont worry ;)

With the MM5700 on good cells it should wheelie no problem, even if it is extended.

Great rusty. IMO the chassis is very thick and wont be breaking to soon. The 1/16th inch lexan my robotics team ordered from mcmaster held up well. We also ordered 1/4th inch also. It was very heavy. How much does the rustler way in this configuration.

It is pretty heavy right now. And no, I don't not get wheelies, yet, that is. This chassis has a 16" wheelbase. Long, I know. The stock rustler is somewhere around 11-12. So this is a 4-5" length extension. I need to regear though. It's too high right now at 17/81. I just got an 87t spur and I have a 15t pinion. I might be doing wheelies once I do regear.

Just a tip. I was stripping spur gears acationally on my rusty when I put a 9l in it. You can replace the spur gear in the rusty with this 32 pitch gear and it makes it alot tougher. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJJ11&P=0 It drops right in, its almost the exact same diameter as the stock 64 pitch gear. You will need 32P pinion gears though.

Dont know if you are having any problems, but you said you were going to regear and I thought Id mention it.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...
