weird problem with revo - 05.24.2007, 08:29 PM

hey well i got my revo the other day and it was running perfect. would startup and run untill the tank was empty. i broke off the little blue thing that holds the exhaust to the header so i replaced it with a bigger one and had to like jimmyrig it on there. it still fits and everything.

problem.

when i go to start it up it will start up fine within a second but then if i try and give it any gas it will die. and i can do that about 3 times but after the 3rd to 4th time it wont even turn over any more... then if i wait a while and change glow plugs it will work..

what do you guys think?

thanks

If the coupling is too big or small it might split and slide and leak, you need the stock replacement one

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

So, you are going through glo-plugs often? When that happened with my first Revo, parts of the piston had come apart and tiny bits of metal were wrecking glo-plugs. Also, are they the right length?

Its possible BrianG, But i thing its a backpressure problem. He said it run, till he had to change the coupler. If its bigger than the pipe and smaller than the header, it will either leak at the pipe or split by the header and cause the backpressure to drop and the engine will act like it runs out of fuel.

Mine would run too, just not very long. Since I only had nitro for a short time, that's all I could come up with. :)

Im going to go with crazyjr on this one also - it sounds like a backpressure problem - as long as when all this happened it happend at the same time - if after replacing the coupler - it was another day or another temperature outside or humidity change - that could lead to it as well... as far as changing glow plugs and then starting - i would check to see how much fuel is in the motor when you change the plug - take out the plug and turn the revo over and shake it - see if any fuel spills out - could be too much fuel and that could cause problems as well... But get the right size coupler and try it again - post back when you get the problem figured out -

Hows that "Hope and Change" working out for Ya???

If he is running the stock 2.5 or 3.3 with a stock or resonator pipe, he needs the stock replacement coupler, it is molded for the size difference of the header and pipe

I'm a nitro person, nitro can be more straight forward than electric if you know exactly whats going on 100% of the time and know exactly what you're doing.

Your engine is running too rich, set the HSN and LSN to the factory setting and begin leaning it from there, remember that adjusting the HSN will directly effect the LSN since the HSN controls the fuel flow before the LSN ever sees it, the LSN's job is to keep the the ratio of fuel and air the same throughout the entire throttle band. That's where most people get thrown out of the game by adjusting the needles not knowing what they're doing.

Don't assume the worst like it's your exhaust that whenever you experience a problem.

I think this phrase could also apply to life in general. God, ! wish I knew exactly what was going on 1% of the time.

If you know exactly what is going on all the time, skip rc completely and start investing, or maybe witchcraft! Those are great hobbies if you know exactly what you are doing!
