gp batts? - 03.05.2007, 06:55 PM

should i get ib cells or gp cells???? im getting into racing and my parents are going to get me all started, i mostly want to mess around at my local track so i dont need matched and zapped, unless the cells life will be longer, i dont want to spend more then 50 a pack assembled, doesnt matter on connectors, id rather they soldered them so i dont have to buy more deans, but it doesnt matter to much

thanks:018:

and if anyone asks, my budgt on batts could be no more then 200 for 4 packs, jsut the packs not shipping and all, thats ok if it goes to more because of shipping

and i dont want to order from cbp's, somehwere else, unless u guys think there good enuff to race with

a hb cyclone, and a trinity co27 27 turn motor

run times need to bee 15 20 mins, price will determin that lol... id like as long of runtime i can get with 50 bucks a pack, i guess if i did like 4200 i could get less, but i want a minimum of 3 packs (one cooling, one charging, and one running)

i will be using a superbrain 989 charger, so can someone tell me what setting or anything i should do? no dischager, i am not going to be that competitive yet, so thats why i want more basic

and if anyone knows, whats a good speedo thats fwd only? undeer 70 bucks.. thanks

Gp 3700's are great cells. As for the superbrain, you can charge your packs @ 1C for longer runtime and less punch, or charge them at around 1.5-2C for less runtime but more punch, it will also shorten the batteries life, but you will get more out of your pack when it comes to performance/waiting.

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

This website sells IB4200WC Packs for a good price.

http://www.boomboombatteries.com/Sea...ults.asp?Cat=4

This website has a review of some of their IB3800 packs

http://www.beatyourtruck.com/prodreview-IB3800.html

I have one question though, why not go lipo? You have the 989 charger, so you can charge lipos already. Flightpower sells some 2s1p 3700mAH packs that I think would be great for stock racing. Although they are $90 apiece, they should be MUCH better than any NiMh pack.

Just my $.02

Brad

Thats too bad that your track doesnt allow lipos. One more ?, where do you race? BTW your stampede looks really nice!

I'm curious why you need 15-20min of runtime per pack? That's much longer than a usual race, unless your local track is pushing the limits. Most electric on-road races are only 5mins.

for practice rounds, im just going to screw around at my track for a while till i get the tuning, and all that down... so with that i want runtime to mess around... then when i get into in in to it and start really racing i will get lower mah packs that are zapped and matched

and yeh the races are 5 mins

If you're interested, I have a couple of older matched GP3300 packs I could sell you cheaply for practice packs. They still hold a great charge. They are both SMC matched and 1 pack is 1.175avg v/cell the other is 1.177avg v/cell. Both are side x side assembled and have deans connectors. Just PM me if you're interested.
