Really cool! Cant imagine how loud that would be in person.

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

Thats so cool. Althoug, it would be a little too loud for me... I much prefer the sound of a squeeling brushless motor. :027:

I am also quite an F1 fan. I went to the 2006 Hungarian F1 GP, and it was one of the best racing experiences I've had. For the most part, everyone is very repectful and there were no issues at all.

My only bad experience was during lunch, were some British guys stole my table and knowingly too. When they went to sit down, I informed them that my dad and cousins were sitting there, and they just said "first come first serve" which absolutely made NO sense, since I got there first. My dad found another table anyway (which was smaller and more private and on a balcony, so it ended up turning out better).

Anyways, back to the cars themselves. They are CRAZY loud. And I mean loud enough to make you grit your teeth and hold back tears from the pain unless you are wearing ear plugs. I had on ear plugs and I still held my ears because the plugs weren't enough (but my hearing is also more sensitive than average).

I copy pasted this from a previous post which includes pics, vids, and info.

The camera is a Cannon PowerShot SD500. It's a little over 7 Megapixles.

Anyway, here are some facts about the race and F1 in general (for those who aren't familiar).

Winner: Jenson Button (Honda)
Poll Position/Top Qualifier: Kimi Riakkonen (McLaren Mercedes - my favorite driver)

Engines:
~1300hp
2.4L V8
20,000RPM's (Here is the video that shows the dyno of one. The rev limiter is set at exactly 20,003).

Car:
Maximum weight with driver: 600KG. Approximately 1320lb.
Brake system running temperature: 600-1000* C (Thats about 1112-1832* F)

And Finally, here are the pics. In the pics, you can see Fernando Alonso (who ended up winning the championchip) and Kimi Raikkonen's cars on flatbed trucks after they crashed. I have Raikkonen's crash on the video. He was taken out by Luizzi of the Red Bull Ferrari Team when he was trying to pass him.

Here are close-up pictures of Kimi Raikkonen's car on display at the McLaren booth (it was a different car than used in the race).

Finally, here are the video's.

This one is the high quality video. About 70mb.

Here is the low quality vid. About 35mb.

Very nice BP!! You are very fortunate . . . some day I hope to see an F1 race. I would really like to see Monaco. Wow, that would be crazy. Most people don't comprehend the mechanical marvels of these cars. Thanks for sharing.

I thought the new V8's were around 700 or 750hp and the old 3 litre V10's around 900.
Power to weight ratio of the V8's is around 1250 hp per tonne.

Yea...after my dad booked the trip, F1 was all I thought about for the whole summer (trip was at the end of summer). I had to push it out of my head for a litle to appreciate the rest of Europe though (F1 in Budapest was part of a trip to Paris, Prague, Warsaw and Gdansk)

In a show called Top Gear, which I'm sure a few of you are familiar with, they review cars etc. One of the things they do is see how fast it goes around their test track. Lowest time was ~1 minute 16 seconds or so. Renault said they bet their 04-05 season F1 car could break 1 minute (it was Alonso's championship car - last year they used V10's). Anyway, they said it had 1500hp, and on the F1 website they said the V8's had about 200hp less.

Even though the V8's don't have that much less hp, they lost a heck of a lot of torque, which is why top speed dropped from ~220-230 to ~200. Kimi Raikkonen's Mclaren Mercedes would hit over 240 down the larger straights when he had his V10.
