All the way forward. This is where I believe the problem is; the cups allow at least ~6mm of movement here, and the dogbone begins to fall out near on the transmission side.


Any ideas are welcome, I have not tried the fuel tubing one, but I'll get on it.

Are you sure that they are not the stock length centre drive shafts, and you are not running an extended CF gorilla chassis?

It's the frontside of the truck. The ext only extends the truck on the rear.

Welcome! i saw your post on the UE forum.


the problem is more clear to me now;

You need to use O-rings on both sides of the shafts, to keep it more centered.

You don't need the bone to go in the entire cup.

If i look at your picture, you would be fine if you use the o-rings to center the bone.

Look at the exploded view/instruction of the HPI savage, to see what i mean; here is the link. You can see an o-ring (6811) going into the drivecup, this is to prevent the bone to get in too deep.

On the picture i included you can see that over 1/2 way out off the cup is normal. due to the fact that it ain't cvd's who are fixed on one side, you get this 'problem'

And if you don't have got a good feeling about this; there is a company named rcalloys, who makes customized dogbones. (not needed though)

I agree with Serum! AN O-ring per cup will solve your problem.

I always use 8x4mm O-rings (outer x inner diameter).

Put a small piece of fuel tubing into each drive cup before you insert the dogbone. It keeps the dogbone centered in the cups.
