Will a mamba max with a fegiao 8xl be ok and have enough power from 12 Ni-Mh cells? If not, what other motor can as the cell number is set.

Yes it should be fine. On 12 cells the 7xl would be a little hotter/faster setup, but the 8xl will give better run time. Either should be fine. Make sure you use a UBEC with the MM on 12 cells.

No, But he should carry them now that I think about it.

Try this for the MM ESC.

5V runs off of the UBEC and fits right on top of the MM. 3mm screws goes right in between the fins on the heat sink. You could go with 40mm fans if you want more airflow.
