Mamba Max - 03.22.2007, 11:14 PM

I just got my Mamba Max in the mail today from rchippie and for some reason, it won't arm. The only thing that it will do is the green and red LED's come on and stay on. It won't program, or anything. I had it working after a while of having problems getting the computer to recognize it, programmed it and all, had it working, then went to reprogram it via computer again to update the firmware and for some reason it hasn't worked since. It WAS working before I went to update the firmware from 1.7 to 1.9. What gives?

Edit: I also forgot to mention that the computer won't recognize it either. I read the FAQ on CC's website and it said that it might be that the LVC is set wrong, but I'm not positive on that. Will it arm when turned on if thats the problem?

Thanks Metalman. I don't think thats the problem though. I read a thread here about the same problem, but I don't think thats it since I have 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0, just that I remember. I have a 64bit processor though, could that be the problem ya think? I did work a couple of times, but now it won't...

Uodating to 1.9 has caused a lot of problems... I don't recall what thread it was in, but someone reported a similar issue and somehow got it back to 1.7...

Something about having different Casltlelink versions installed... one of them wouldn't work... but a different version did work and he was able to revert to 1.7.

this is a mess..

I kind of had the same experience with a Mamba 25. I called Castle, and the immidiately replaced it. for some odd reason programming caused this failure.

Can you check on another PC to see if it is recognized?

Mamba problems. - 03.23.2007, 09:30 PM

Not sure what kind of radio you are using...but if its Spektrum you will have to plug a servo battery pack into the tranceiver the first time you set it up. Reason is because the mamba instructions require manipulation of radio controls immediately upon turning the ESC on. This is not possible unless you have a battery pack plugged into the transceiver (the radio system requires a few seconds to establish a link between the RX/TX and immediate manipulation of controls is not possible with the mamba internal battery eliminator circuitry). Without the battery pack, the power for the RX comes via the ESC and when you turn on the ESC switch...the RX/TX link is established (after a couple of seconds) and then radio control manipulation is possible.

Another potential arming problem is associated with improper end-point-adjustments (EPA). Make sure you set your forward, reverse, and brake EPAs to 110. You can dial them more precisely later...once you get the intial setup process completed.

I hope this helps.

Thanks, but I think its the Mamba Max's firmware. I don't run Spektrum so I don't think that is the problem. I tried it on a different computer and it still didn't recognize the Mamba, so I think I'm going to have to send it in...

No, not yet. I'm gonna call them in a little. I'm running a M8, so the radios not the problem. I even made sure the RX channel wasn't bad. Its the ESC for sure since my friends computer won't recognize it either.

Obviously I'm not the only one with this problem. Larry, what did you tell them?

I asked them if they had advise for fixing it, or did i have to send it in to them. This is an older mamba max that i got on the castle list to get, I did do a newer one, took a few attempts to get it to work, but it did. Like i said this is not a warranty issue, the program they use is the culprit. If they don't fix mine they will lose my business.

I also asked why they had a defective program update that is causing them to lose face in the rc car world
