Feigao 540C - 04.28.2007, 10:48 AM

I"m ready to order my motor and ESC and had a question about the 540Cs. Do they have the same end bell problem as the smooth cans? If so is there a fix? Would the Wanderer 9XL be a comparable switch and does it have the same end bell problem as the Feigaos? What's the ETA on the smooth can 8XLs? I'll be running a MM ESC on 14 cells.

I'd like to go ahead and put a combo together and get my Revo on the track, but those smooth can 8XLs seem to be scarce. I'd like to use a smooth can 8XL with RCM heatsink/clamp, but would be willing to try something that's in stock that gets close and is about the same price.

Thanks,
Cajun

I belive the endbells on the "C" motors are done the same way as the smooth cans.

I e-mailed Mike last week about the smooth 8XLs, he said that his supplier had no stock and didn't know when they would be coming in.

I stole one from my hydro, but if you dont have one you can swap over and cant wait for stock to come in, maybe you could use a wanderer 9XL and gear it slightly higher?

Do the Wanderer motors have the same endbell problem? I could go with 9XL and a 20t pinion I think.

The wanderer, feiago and nemisis are all exactly the same apart from the anodizing colour, although I have heard rumor the wanderer have better bearings, I've never seen a seller state that, so I am sceptical, the feiago bearings arn't amazing so if I was selling a rebearinged version, I'd make it known.

Thanks for the info, I decided to go with the Wanderer 9XL and one of Mike's heatsink/clamps.

From what I've heard, the C motors have their own endbell problems, that's why I've used all smooth can motors with the motor clamp heatsink. I haven't had any problems with this combo. Good luck.

The C motors have a threaded on bell end with a set screw to lock it in place. The smooth cans have indentations (crimps) in the can to lock it onto the ends. The heat sink being part of the c's case draws heat away from the motor better than a smooth with a heatsink. If you do get a smooth can use heat transfer paste (artic silver) between the sink and the motor case.

I did order a smooth can and heatsink so I'll make sure I pick up some heat transfer paste. I need some for my E-Maxx anyway. Thanks for the info.
