Question Disable Ebec on a MM - 09.23.2007, 12:08 AM

Does any know how to disable the Ebec on a Mamba Maxx? I wanted to use a external. Also what is the benefits of using a external as oppose to the internal one?

Disconnect the red wire that's on the esc plug going to the RX.
Internal BEC's aren't very efficient (except the MGM ones), they will heat up and make life harder for the esc, especially if your already pushing the limits a bit with the motor amp draw. The higher the battery voltage the more heat the internal bec will produce.
External bec's (and the internal ones in the new MGM's) are a switching voltage regulator, which is more efficient than the linear ones that most internal bec's use. They produce less heat, because they're more efficient and they handle more battery voltage than the linear ones. And any heat produced by the external bec is heat that's not in the esc.
