Novak Hv400 - 07.11.2005, 09:07 AM

would you believe that i've had to send my HV back to novak at least 7-8 times.......................every time that they sent me a "new" one, there was a problem(thermals, etc).all in spite of habing a well set-up race truck(no binding, etc) and gearing it properly(12/70 w/us 3:31 diffs).............when it does decide to run, it runs great(in competition @ xtreme in new milford). it's every bit as fast/quick as the hackers and big block trucks(not a lie........ask the gentry's)......problem is that week to week, i can't rely on it to successfully complete the qualifiers and/or main. QUITE FRUSTRATING. just yesterday, didn't even make it past the practice laps before it slowed considerably.ripped it apart and couldn't find the problem.back to novak. keep in mind, considering that this deal has been back anf forth so many times that i am NOW working directly with BOB NOVAK himself........he did the last rebuild on the system himself..............might be time to see what kind of RELIABLE system mike cronan can come up for me.......

At least you have the Novak support in the US.

Actually, BL systems run very reliable on the correct gearing. But from what I heard those sensor controlled Novak products can be sensitive. I'd take a sensorless BL from Mike any day of the week!

I assume you run a Maxx, right? Why not go the popular BK / Feigao way?

Mike and the boys here will also provide you with the necessairy information and help to keep your truck running.

If you are indeed running a Maxx, I'd cut my losses now if I were you. Send the HV back to Novak and get your money back. Then put it to good use and go with the 9L/9920. I had an HV, kept it about a week and sold it on ebay, then got the 9L. I love the new motor. The HV was nothing. It thermaled constantly, just didn't like it. I like the way it looks and the fact that's it plug and play, but not worth the effort if you ask me.

Just my 2 cents' worth.

I have bought two novaks my self. I put both on one truck. It did fair. I have fried one esc totally. It popped and sizzled. The other one has lost power like you said. Not sure what I am going to do with it now. My brother had same problem. We both went to something else. I run a schulze and was running a 7 xl. Until serious crash knocked motor to pieces and messed it up. Brother in running a 8l with bk esc. It gets down better than novak.

Peace!

Get twice the power with the 9920/9L combination for the same price. all the setups sold here, can be counted on 1 hand that are sent back for service.. It is a reliable and very powerfull setup, which is proven tough
