How I Programmed My MGM 12012 for 2s Lipo - 08.04.2005, 09:58 PM

Here is, step-by-step, exactly what I did to program my MGM 12012 controller for 2s lipo operation.
Since my MGM 12012 controllers beep a different amount of times than the manual states, I won't list the amount of beeps to expect, except when entering the programming mode. I simply state that the "MGM beeps". This means either 1, 2, or 3 beeps. You'll get used to how many times your MGM beeps at each step, so just go with the number you hear.

1 - Charge AA batteries for radio and 1 battery pack for vehicle.
2 - Put batteries in radio and turn radio on.
3 - Make sure MGM is OFF and plug pack into MGM.
4 - Make sure "throttle" setting on the radio is in 'normal' mode, NOT 'reverse'.
5 - Hold full throttle on the radio while turning the MGM on.
6 - Wait about 13 seconds for the controller to beep 3 times.
7 - Immediately push full reverse on the radio until the MGM beeps.
8 - Immediately move throttle to neutral, MGM beeps.
YOU ARE NOW AT PARAMETER 'A' ON THE PROGRAMMING MATRIX.
9 - Push full reverse, MGM beeps.
10 - Move throttle to neutral, MGM beeps.
11 - Pull full throttle, MGM beeps.
12 - Move throttle to neutral, MGM beeps.
You have now set parameter A1 (car mode), and moved on to parameter B.
13 - Pull full throttle, MGM beeps.
14 - Move throttle to neutral, MGM beeps.
You have now set parameter B at the previously programmed setting (default if you nave not changed this).
15 - Pull full throttle, MGM beeps.
16 - Move throttle to neutral, MGM beeps.
You have now set parameter C at the previously programmed setting (default if you nave not changed this).
17 - Pull full throttle, MGM beeps.
18 - Move throttle to neutral, MGM beeps.
You have now set parameter D at the previously programmed setting (default if you nave not changed this).
19 - Pull full throttle, MGM beeps.
20 - Move throttle to neutral, MGM beeps.
You have now set parameter E at the previously programmed setting (default if you nave not changed this).
21 - Push full reverse, MGM beeps.
22 - Move throttle to neutral, MGM beeps. (you are now at F1, nimh. Skip to 25 if you are NOT using lipo.)
23 - Push full reverse, MGM beeps.
24 - Move throttle to neutral, MGM beeps.
25 - Pull full throttle, MGM beeps.
26 - Move throttle to neutral, MGM beeps.
You have now set parameter F2, which is 2s lipo cutoff. For 3s, repeat steps 23 and 24 before moving to 25. For 4s, repeat steps 23 and 24 TWICE before moving to 25.
27 - Pull full throttle, MGM beeps.
28 - Move throttle to neutral, MGM beeps.
You have now set parameter G at the previously programmed setting (default if you nave not changed this).
29 - Pull full throttle, MGM beeps.
30 - Move throttle to neutral, MGM beeps.
You have now ended programming by choosing parameter H0.
31 - Power OFF the MGM.
32 - Power ON the MGM and perform your own testing, as desired, before actual use of lipo packs.

I hope this helps others with their MGM programming. It is certainly a frustrating process, but worthwhile once you have it set the way you desire it for your vehicle.

If you have other questions on the MGM, please post and I can help where needed, as well as others.

Electronics run on smoke... if you let the smoke out, they stop working.
