Need quick help - motor decision 7xl or 8xl? (9xl?) -
12.15.2005, 08:16 PM
Alright I know ive posted this before, and was pretty well decided on the 7xl/9920 combo, but I keep seeing those who run this combo and they are having some pretty low runtimes (10ish mins)
I will be running 14 cells most of the time (some 12, possibly 16 later on down the road) in the e-revo.
I know 7xl is in its prime (right?) for 14 cells, but what about 8xl? I know the 8xl/9xl guys are talking 20-30 mins, which is really what I need.
I would like to order tonight, so any input is greatly appreciated!

Id say , go 8xl, for 14 or possibly 12 cells as stated, would be good torque speed and runtime, and if you want to go 9xl you have to wait, cause they are out of stock! The 7xl will not give you too good of runtime, and if you go up to 16 cells, the 8xl will be a perfect motor for that cell count!
The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

Alright I think I will go 8xl, that way if (probably when, once I get power hungry- lol) I go to 16 cells, I will be in the 8xl's prime.
But hmm... the motor clamps are not in stock (were they in, then just sold out?) and havnt gotten a pm response from mike (sent a message 4 days ago) because I need to know about the twin force battery trays as well.

As for the heatsink, you wont need one for the feiago motor, as i think it has a screwed on endbell? If not, arent the heatsinks in stock?

I checked the status of the xl- xl blue- and L blue, but all were out. I can order that at any time, mainly just need the items to get this truck up and running before we head down to florida for beach racing (t-minus 9 days!)

No problem, im sure mike can ship to wherever you are in a matter of 3-5 days, which is quick! I wish you luck with your 8xl motor and controller, as i myself will use a 8xl in my g2r ;)
