I need some advise....we got about 4 inches of snow the past few days, and i'm going stir crazy not being able to bash.
I wanna run the e-maxx i have with my MMM setup, but i'm concerned about the protection. can i soran wrap the chassis because the MMM uses a built in fan for cooling?...or is this asking for trouble?
How about showercap? I used one in my old emaxx. It's easy to attach and all the elec. can be protected with it. Worked pretty well, but heated the electronics more.
I ran my truggy on 5S and a 2.5D and the fan doesn't even come on. How are your temps usually? If they are normally good, you can prolly just get away w/ a cap over the elecs. Just check the temps often.
I used to jump w/ 1st emaxx into snow drifts. Granted that was w/ the evx1 back in the day, but it was always fine as long you kept the snow out of it. Making huge jumps with the snow piles was great fun.
Like Finnster said, watch those temps. That time I had emaxx it might been badly geared.
And check the showercap occasionally it will get penetrations quite easily.. Tape on both side of the holes and you can use it longer just FYI
Go to the supermarket and get some Saran quick covers(kind of like a ghetto shower cap). I used the "medium" size on the old emaxx(and use it on the new one as well, but it is a tight fit). If they have a large, it would be better. It has been a couple years since I bought them, but i bought a little bucket of them for a few bucks and they last forever. iIt is handy to have a couple on hand, so you can always put a dry one on. Things do get hot under this blanket, though - I used to take empty antenna tubes and criss-cross them to hold the cover up like a tent. A bigger cover would be best for this. For snow running, you want to gear down(especially when putting electronics inside a blanket like this) - and check temps after 5 minutes or so - I can thermal my old warrior controller after 6 or so minutes when it is sealed up(I have since siliconed the esc and use an old piece of lexan to block most of the snow from entering the body - nothing even gets beyond luke warm like this, but things do get wet). :)
