Bought a Slash "Amazed" - 03.09.2009, 12:44 PM

It was my bros b-day yesterday so we went to our local lhs and picked up a brand new slash for him. He absolutely loves it! I spent $60 on it, mom spent $60 on it, dad spent $60 on it and my grandma spent $20 on it. But ya it couldnt have been a cooler r/c for $200. When he first opened it I wasnt to impressed because Im not a big traxxas fan but man Ive got to admit this thing is really fun to use. We just got 8in of fluffy snow yesterday and we made a snow track in our driveway for it. Ran it on a 6cells IB4200 matched pack and its got a pretty decent amount of power. He already plans on buying a sidewinder esc with a novak velocity 13.5r motor for racing at our LHS. Im checking to see if our LHS allows the use of 2s lipos.

Ill hopefully get some pic's up tonight or tommoro. "Possibly the best chipped in $60 I ever spent".

I have ran a sidewinder with the 13.5 novak, worked fine, but I was a bit dissapointed with the power output though even on 3s lipo in a pede geared for 40mph. I would stick with a vxl motor if I was you.

Sadly he wants to race and all they allow are 13.5 brushless motors for the slash class.

Why would I? Ive used many MM's with sensored motors and the programming concept is the same. All you have to do is program the SW correctly and I will be fine...

I know the older Mamba/SW firmware versions had trouble with certain motors, but version 1.20 runs slotted stator motors much better. Might need to boost start power, but that should be it.

I drastically increased the steepness of the throttle curve in the begining also.

Whats there to see? Just ran it today in 1-6in deep mud and water. The titan did fairly well but it is very underpowered. Hosed it down after we were done running it and its sitting in the basement drying off right now.
