If the motor is hot, gear down. I don't remember about the ESC.

if you don't mind popping the rotor out and sticking it to your fridge, then that's a good test. If it isn't a crazy strong magnetic attraction it has probably been too hot and lost magnetism.

Also increased cogging in a previously smooth running setup is a good tipoff of lost magnetism.

always wanted to ask this but felt ridiculous

to gear down does that mean lower the ratio?

my pedes ratio is aprox 4.5 right now and the esc is hella hot motor is warm.

if i were to need to gear up does that mean raise my ratio to lets so 5.0? and gear down would be to lower the ratio to 4.0?

thanks

EDIT- the thing about the freezer confused me till i read it slow. what hes saying is get the rotor out and put it up against your fridge to see how magnetized it is. if i sticks up to the fridge and holds on well then it should be still good. thats what i got from it at least.

"Although not always true, a rule of thumb is:
Hot motor, cool controller, cool batteries = undergeared
Cool motor, hot controller, hot batteries = overgeared
Warm motor, warm controller, warm batteries = happy components"

haha yeah, I'm using jayjay talk (where the hell has he been?)

I just used the fridge as an example, it should be very attracted to any metal surface.

like I am to hands
