Hi Buzzsaw,
Although it's not impossible to completely brick a MM or MMM or MMP during firmware updates, it's pretty hard.
The bootloader is in low memory, and usually doesn't get erased or updated. So as long as the lowest block of memory is still good, you can recover.
If the program is corrupted, the ESC won't operate (it will act "dead") but the bootloader should still be operational -- and as long as it powers-up through a Castle Link, you should be able to upload a new firmware program.
