Some advice and words of wisdom please. - 06.18.2006, 05:30 PM

Hello all, I have been doing alot of searching and reading on this site for about an hour now and I think I am almost there with what I need but I just need 'Some advice and words of wisdom' if thats ok.

Firstly what i need help on is I have an E-Maxx at the moment but I will soon be going over to an E-Revo and I am looking for a little motor-speedo help. I know 100s of other people have asked this same question and I think most people answer with Quark 125B speedo and a Feigao 10XL motor (i think Feigao anyway) but i have a few questions. Everyone is talking about the number of lipo cells that they run being 4cells and 6cells. Now is that 2 sets of 3cell packs runing in parrallel or one 6cell pack? as a 6cell set of lipos would be 22.2volts!!??

Thanks for your help

Welcome to the forums twizz0.
Depends on the layout but for an E-maxx on 6s you'd normally run a 3cell pack(3s1p) on either side in series for a total of 22.2volts,that would be 6s1p.
Or you could run a 6cell pack (6s1p) on either side wired in parralel, still 22.2v but twice the capacity, that would be 6s2p.Or 2 3s2p wired together in series would also make 6s2p,22.2v.

Here,Batfish expains it well:http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2250

Don't forget, 5S is always an option.

Ok great thanks so you are running these motors on 22.2volts Hell that must make em fly!!!!

The Quark 125B speedo and a Feigao 10XL motor running on 6Cell would do the job for bashing on an E-Revo?

6s is definitely an option, but it depends on the motor you will use, specifically the kv rating. The total rom of the motor = kv * battery voltage. You want to keep the rpm ~35,000-40,000 rpm. Also, be careful when picking out your ESC. The Quark is only good for 6s according to the site. Personally, I don't like to run things to their max ratings for the sake of lengevity. So, if you plan on maybe running higher voltage later on, you might want to consider an ESC that can handle high voltages right off the bat. However, if you are sure you will never go any higher than 6s, then the Quark will be perfect.

Thanks Brian, so I should choose a Motor Batery combination that holds at 35,000-40,000 with ease (for long life) and a speedo capable of runing that also with ease (for long life). That makes sense! Cheers

I prefer a 30-35000 rpm range. 40K is rather hot already imo.
