Need some help and Info guys - 01.20.2008, 01:50 AM

I got a friend that has a RC8 associated buggy, Loves the handling and power, But he is an old school electric racer and has seen my brushless Gmaxx, Revo and my mini's and wants some advice on what to use for an electric conversion. I told him i didn't have advice for buggies, but knew where to go for some good setups, you guys . He says he doesn't need the motor plate or battery box, he can make them himself. He wants a strong reliable setup and a battery pack to power it right. I already told him the lowball (fegaio/MM) and the highball (Neu /quark), But i wasn't sure exactly what motor to tell him. Thats where you guys come in, I need advice on some good buggy setups and the batteries you run. I also need, from those who have run Nitro and electric, how the balance is effected with the electric conversion

Once again, sorry for the bad typing and thanks for any info you can provide

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

So he wants to convert the RC8 or does he want to get advice what to get? If that is the case I think to start would be what size RC does he want to go.

I recommend a NEU 1515 motor with a 2200-2700rpm range and a Quark or a MGM with x2 TrakPower lipos. I think this setup will keep him between the low 40s, low 50s depending on gearing.

I would think the 1512 would be better, the 1515 is too much in My revo (9+ LBS depending on batteries used). As for the trackpowers, I think he would go with a single 4s or 5s because of charging hassles with two batteries. Thank you though, and all info will be given to him for conasideration

Well, on my previous 1/8 buggy, I ran a MM with a UBEC on the 9xl and TrueRC 4s2p 8000mAH lipo pack geared 18/46. The balance was a little more on the battery side, but I was surprised that when I jumped, it flew perfectly level....

For a high end set up, the 1512/2.5D (2000KV) would work great on 4s. As for an ESC, you can really run anything from the Quark 125b to the MGM 16024 to the MM possibly....

BTW - this is all on a single 4s battery on one side of the car.
