What are the best drive shafts for a G3R build...I'll be using FlexTek arms. I will also be running a Neu 1515 series motor w/6S on this build.

I was thinking about running the stock 3.3 plastic sliders with the RD Racing 8mm axle conversion, but I am not sure if that would hold up to the brushless power...

The other option I am considering is to use the Traxxas steel CVDs made for the Revo.

Advice please...

The stock 3.3 driveshafts will hold up better to that power than the stock difs will. I would run the stock driveshafts and spend whatever drivetrain money you have on the difs.

I have been running the 3.3 shafts ever since I built my revo. I have worn a few sets of rear shfts out, but they are cheap on to replace on ebay and I actually like them cuz they seem to absorb some of the hard shocks to the rest of the drivetrain by being slightly flexable.


I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Thanks Bud...I have Mike's 1/8 scale diff conversion kit...now I want to beef up the drive shafts...what do you recommend?

the 8mm axels and aluminum hubs are a very nice way to beef up the drive shafts. this is going to look sick.

Cool. The RCM difs are the way to go for sure. I still actually like the 3.3 safts for the reasons I stated below. I personally wouldnt spend the money, but the 8mm axels would for sure be a nice if you want to do them.

Has anybody tried UE drive shafts and knuckles with the G3R?

The stock shafts are all you need. I'd save your money and spend it on something else like better servos, batteries, wheels, tires, bodies wings etc etc.

I would say stock shafts.

The FlexTek arms...well...Flex. And with CVD's this will probably mean a lot of bent/broken CVD shafts... at least the stock shafts can both flex and compress/stretch a good deal, so they are less likely to be affected by the flex of the arm on an impact.

Not to mention, you can have about two or three full sets of spares for the price of average CVD's...

Not only that, but as mentioned, they help to absorb a bit of the drivetrain shock and such. I also find they smooth out power delivery a bit - making it less "snappish."

Yeah...but can they hold up to BL power? I am thinking of running 6S with a 1515 neu....probably a 2.5
