I think it will. It states 10a max for nicd/nimh, and up to 1.2c for LiPo. If you put it on the LiPo setting can you select 10,000mAh ?

It's a bit confusing the way it's worded in the specs. But I think it will do fine.

I never get more than 5.8A charging 8000mah 5S lipo on 1C. Teoreticaly it should charge up to 8A but charger output power is limiting factor.
And in fact that charger have 150W powersupply so charge 10000mAh at 10A you nead at least 185W charge power!
So answer is NO! Actual charge rate will be lower about 0,6C

so will a 610i charge a 5s at 10amps with the right power supply? what's the formula to determine wattage needed?

The 610i should be able to charge tje 5s at 10 amps.

On my 989, I can't charge above about 7.1 amps charging my 4s 8000mAH pack when I set the amperage to 8 amps... Is the whole problem because the power supply is not powerful enough? Can I buy a higher quality and more powerful power supply and charge an 8s pack, at say 10 amps? Would this solve the problem?

to determinate wattage is simple Voltage multiply by Curent.
989 On 4S 14,8V*7.1Amps makes = ~105W actualy it charge not on 3.7V pec cell maybe bit more but power not exceed 118W
And I allready wrote here 989 powersupply is 150W charger consume max 118W so changing PS not help rise charge current.
If you still suspect that PS not feed your charger hook it to Lead Acid CAR battery and check what max amps you get.
Paralyzed if you want buy exact PS what can charge 18,5V pack you need 185W but add 10% for losses you get ~200W

I bought switchng PS from ebay for my 0610i, chinese tends to overrate their products i bought more powerful PS than needed charger max is 250W i bought 350W PS to be sure that it will feed it in any case and wont overheet or something.

Its actually a 5.7Amp limit for 5s on the 989.

This should help you understand better. Check out some of the other "electrical calculation" tools Brian has on this site. Really usefull stuff and good learning tools to get a good understnding of some of the basic rules of electricity.
