Demagged Novak Rotor - 09.14.2008, 09:26 PM

I recently demagged rotor in my HV 4.5 w/ 5mm shaft, but I am not certain as to how. Here's the link:

Just want to make sure 180C rating or whatever the rating is for the high temperature sintered rotors is not a typo, because 356F seems pretty high for a rating.

The temperature rating of the magnetic material we use in the HV rotor is 180C, however we suggest not heating your motors above 175F. As another poster commented, we offer motor thermal overload protection in the Novak BL systems.

Users don't like it, they call it "thermalling" as if shutting the motor down before it overheats and destroys itself is a bad thing...

You can return that motor and replace or exchange it for any HV wind motor you want:

Thanks NovakTwo. I read Patricks post on how demagging occurs and I guess those temps, even though they weren't so high initially made the rotor more suceptible to demagging, especially with the high currents and cogging/phase misfiring when it occured.
