For Audio and what not those are worth every penny. My parents have two monster surge systems in there house and you can hear the difference in using them and a low priced surge bar. Those units actually clean up the power to make it more constant eliminating spikes and drops (which occurs constantly in AC power) and cleaning out the static and noise often associated with poor quality power delivery.

That monster surge protector is worth every penny. it is a real surge prtector, not just a multiport extension cord with a fuse. The 6125-joule rating makes it take one hell of a spike to damage anything plugged into it. If you have expensive gear it is worth it to protect it. If you have a $300 walmart tv and $100 stereo, then a $200 surge device is certainly not needed, but for a several thousand dollar tv and a home theater system upwards of 10 grand, that extra piece of mind is worth the $200.

IIRC Monster used to(maybe still do) offer up to $100,000 of protection for anything damaged while plugged into their product. They make even higher end units that are the size of components in your rack. Makes me miss my krell amp and martin logans. Damn apt. life.
