here is a small write up about the new quick change bulk heads from hot racing. iam installing them on my 3905 emaxx.
1st impressions. the look to be made nicely.im not sure of the grade of aluminum but the fit and finish are well done. the QC portion of the bulk slides in and out and fits snug.you get the bulkhead and all hardware, hinge pins along with extra bushings.
the quick change is held in by two screws from the top, remove these screws and the QC slides forward...
also the hinge pins are supported by Teflon bushings. the bulks come with them pre installed and also an extra bag.
installation....
they mounted up to the chassis with no problem.screw holes lined up perfectly.now the back of the shock tower portion did not meet up with the chassis like the stock did. i do not know if this will cause a problem or not.
now on my emaxx iam running rpm arms. with these arms i had to do some trimming. they did not fit freely within the bulks.when installed the arms would stay in the position you put them in.they should move freely and fall from their own weight.i had to trim some of the arm material off to achieve this.mostly on the bottom arm.
also on the bottom the hinge pins were almost to short.the eclips were a pain to get on.not alot of room here. as you can see in this pic below the hinge pin also rubbed the steering bellcrank on both sides. a little sanding of the bellcrank and all is good.
once i got the bottom arms on and moving free i moved onto the top.rite off the bat i noticed that the top hinge pin was to short to use with the rpm arms(stock may be different). there was no way i could get the e clips on. luckily enough i used the stock screw in type hinge pin. they fit the bulks perfect with no slop.
this is as far as i got for now.keep checking back for further updates.
