Slash Medusa owners?? - 03.12.2009, 07:27 PM

The shaft on the Medusa 36-50-3300 is shorter than the stock titan. So with that being said I could not put the pinion on the same way as on the titan. If I did with the set screw facing out it would not make contact with the shaft to lock/seat it to the shaft. So I had to spin it around with the set screw facing inside. My issue is the gear part of the pinion then is not lined up well with the spur gear. Only about 3/4 of the width of the gears is in contact with the spur. Anyone run it like this or am I missing something? Thanks

switch to 32 pitch gear and they stick out further and your pinion will line up better.

i tryed to talk you into using mod1 gearing from the begining..... but 32 pitch will work and is easy to find pinions for an 1/8th shaft.

So, the 1/8th inch shaft will not work on a Slash with the stock pinion gears???? That sucks. Seems like all I am doing these days is waiting for fucking parts. Now I have to order more???

Just looked at it again and it should work. It is not completely lined up but the mesh is good.

That's good enough for now. Seriously though, go with Rootar's advice and get the nastiest gears you can get. 32p will be fine and you can get 32p pinions in the 1/8th inch shaft and it will be leaps-and-bounds stronger than the 48p gears you're using now. With one of Mike's bore reducers you could run a Mod1 gear on there (should have gotten a 5mm shaft from the start but you live and learn) and a Revo spur gear. If you strip a Revo spur gear in an ER you've got either mesh or bearing problems.

All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.

Yes that is the plan! I got some 32 pitch gears coming and the bore reducer. Thanks for the reply.

If you need to, get a tekno long shank pinion and a mod1 spur.

Get me back into RC!
