I like the new avatar. Looks real nice! Congrats on the spot man!

I'd like to point out I got a job at the local mcdonalds. Its great! I get paid 6.55/hr to put buns in a bun toaster OR a steamer. Almost as good as a mod spot!

We all have to start somewhere. I am sure that all of us older guys in here have had some pretty crappy jobs or duties from our humble beginings. From 11 to 17 I was a golf caddy at the local country club. The basic pay was $7 per bag for 18 holes(approx 3 hours). After learning the ropes I carried two bags 18 holes and with the normal tips could make pretty good money for a kid with no real marketable skills. During the celebrity tournaments I would easily take home $150 to $200 in one day carrying two bags 18 holes twice in one day. Just look at it this way, at least you have a job right now.

lol, my first job from 12-15 was on a apple orchard/farm doing all the stuff no one else could/would do (pull stumps, carry wood, etc). I made a whopping $2/hr (yeah, $2/hr)and had to bike about 3 miles to get there. The worst part is at the end of the day (when tired), about 70% of the ride back was a steady uphill climb. Ugg.

Wow, was is snowing too?

I have only had one job, working at the body shop. Started at 12 when my dad bought the place. I have done everything here so far (including buying the place form dad) and have to say that 17yrs at the same job is kinda boring. When I started I made 2 bucks an hour, got a raise to 3 an hour when I turned 13, up to 4 at 14 and so on. When I got to 20 the parents put me on salary (damn) and I have slowly made my way back down to around $4.70 and hour at the present (took my salary and divided by the number of hours I put in: 10-11 a day). Luckily I can get some profit every now and then, and I really do not buy anything other than rc, and that is kinda like recycling money right now, haven't spent a dime of any money I have made in the last 6 months on rc!

linc: No snow. This was during the summer and fall mostly. Springtime was mostly clean-up and they used the women for that stuff. They saved the grunt labor for the guy. So much for equal rights, eh? BTW: That did sound like one of those old-timer when-I-was-a-kid stories: "I walked 15 miles to school barefoot in the snow uphill both ways". lol.

Metal: I don't know if things changed now, but back then agricultural jobs were exempt from the min wage, and I was a minor. I should have joined a union, lol. This was really the only job that I could get at 12 yrs old available anywhere near me, as I lived in the country. There was a couple of conv stores, but you had to be at least 16 just to be a cashier.

My brother had the cushy number - Spent the summer watering a newly laid cricket green aka sun tanning...

I worked as a plasters mate which involved carrying the 40kg bags up the building site to the 2nd floor - Yucky work but got me fit.
