Most Durable 1/8 Truggy

Alright after thinking about doing a Hyper STe 1/12 build I'm starting to think going straight to 1/8 would be best. I don't have enough room for the Hyper STe at my house so why not save up a bit longer and get what I've wanted for a LONG time.

After some searching I see that the Hyper ST Pro is one of the most durable truggys out there. I remember seeing AMainHobbies selling them for $300 but there not there anymore and all of the other places that have them in stock are selling them for $450.

So if that is what I would have to pay for the Hyper ST Pro what are my other option?

I'm not worries about handling (anything will be a huge improvement over my RC18T) just durability and reliability.

Some of the other kits I've found are the:
HotBodies D8T - $400
Thunder Tiger ST1 Pro - $320
Team AE RC8Te - $390 (no tires though)
Jammin X2 CRT - $490 (worth the extra $50)

The 2 kits that are most appealing are the RC8Te since it's already converted and the HotBodies D8T.

Pros of the RC8Te:
- Converted
- Cheapest option
- Get to pick my own tires
- Easy to find parts online
- AE has GREAT quality and durability from my experiences

Cons of the RC8Te:
- AE cut corners to keep price down (Turnbuckles, Shock Towers, Shocks, etc.)
- I've heard the plastic it prone to snapping
- Some people say the AE Conversion isn't good quality
- Not 100% sure about durability

Pros of D8T:
- Love how it looks
- HB LSP was said to be one of the MOST durable truggys ever
- Diffs should be bullet proof like the LSP diffs (right???)
- Big Bore 16mm Shocks
- 4mm chassis (thicker then other truggys)

Cons of the D8T:
- Durability questions
- Somewhat new kit so there may be some bugs
- Not many on-line stores have parts

From the above Pro/Con lists the D8T looks like the better option but durability is questionable.

I don't have any LHS's near me so I would only buy stuff online and AMain carries parts along with Tower so I'm pretty sure I would be able to find something if I did break anything.

I don't know where I'm going to be driving but I would probably be jumping anywhere from 5ft to 15ft.

Sorry for the super long post I'm just VERY indecisive and I don't want to make a $1K mistake

My 8T is perfect and a takes a serious beating. I've flipped and crashed into a lot of things and she keeps ticking!

THey are all about the same... it takes alot to break them either way..

And the d8t shares no parts with the lsp.

Voted for 'Others' since XRAY's Truggy (XT8) is not listed. That truck takes a beating and then some.

I'm racing a RC8T, not AE's electric conversion though, it's a factory team kit with the RC-Monster full chassis conversion. The only damage I have done so far is a bent chassis brace and snapped end on the brace. However that damage was done by doing something no one else has even attemted at my track. We have what they call the table and chairs, a jump with a landing on a tabletop, the table has a kicker that sets you on the downside of another jump, at least that was the plan. I have succesfully cleared the whole thing many times but only have had a few decent landings, it's easily a 50' or better jump and I wind up about 15-18' in the air.

So I haven't voted because this isn't with the AE conversion, the titanium turnbuckles and carbon fiber towers can be picked up fairly cheap on ebay, the shocks will set you back about $80 for all four on ebay.

I had a Losi 8ight-t that was indestructible. Broke a shock once, and maybe a bumper, but it is very tough. I currently have a D8 buggy, and its very strong, so I am sure the D8t will be the same way. There is a topic on the D8t in the nitro section on RC-Tech, so you may want to check it out for more info. The D8t will be my next truggy, so it gets my vote.

They are all almost same in durability, just get one that you are able to get spares easily.
There is no sense having truck which is "best" when you have to wait two weeks for 5$ spares... Just get the one that your lhs has spares, so there is no waiting to get spares when you break something.
I voted for Hyper ST Pro since i have one, and i bought it because importer is near my town, so i can get spare when i need them.

As much as it pains me - I'm sure the ST Pro is going away soon and expect an Hyper 9eT soon...

If you want new go for a Gen 2 truggy - 8T2 etc X2CRT etc

LHS support isn't important to me because the LHS near me stocks 99% Traxxas. I guess Ill pick whatever I think looks the best and replacement parts are cheapest. Since the Hyper 9e is $450 does $550 to $600 for the Hyper 9ste sound like a good guess? I guess Ill just spend the money to get a gen2 Truggy like the 8T 2.0 or MBX6T.

So if it's between which gen2 Truggy to get which would you pick?
This is going to be my first rc bigger than a 1/10 and Ive heard that the 8T is very picky to how you set it up...

again all truggies are pretty damn durable... it comes down to personal preference..

8ight t 2.0, ft rc8T, D8t, St-rr, Cen matrix tr, 801xt all good trucks- since you have to buy your parts online anyways.
