Looking for a certain thread - 09.02.2009, 09:52 PM

A while back there was a thread all about motor timing and esc settings for the different winds of motors....

If anyone has a link or something like it I could really use it :)

From Neu's web site using castle controllers, ...D winds should use low timing, no benefit from higher timing...Y winds can use med. timing for more power but will not be as efficient

As magman said, Delta winds work best at low timing

A 1/8th buggy on 4S and 2050kv motor should be geared around 16/46 with low timing

12/48 is very low gearing and most likely the reason you are seeing high motor temps.

Gear the buggy closer to 16/46 with low timing and you should see your motor temps come down.

NEU motors are OK up to 170F so 180F is bad
It sounds like the motor may be failing.
Are there any mechanical issues with the motor like worn bearings or bent shaft? What kind of shape is the motor in?

Any binding anywhere? My 1512 started to get hot just before the bearing failed...so that could be the issue

As stated above...w/0 timing, try going up 2 teeth and retest and go from there. My 1512 go hot when I first tested...168..I went up 2 teeth and it never gets above 145 now.

Definately worth a shot....it took me a while to find the sweet spot w/my 1512. Even 160 seems a bit though though

Not enough load on the motor create inefficiency which we all know creates heat. This may be your case.

Also, throttle usage. Whether you are jerky on the throttle like the nitro guys. Or smooth on and off like a BL should be.
