Calibration problem - 12.17.2009, 12:59 PM

I've got calibration problem of MMM with KO Porpo EX-1 UR 2.4G.
Here is my setting.
MMM arming delay time: 2s
Transmitter:
Max throttle position:150
Max break position:150
Calibration procedure stopped in break calibration and LED was blinking red.
There is no such problem with another transmitter.
(Finally, I calibrated MMM with another transmitter and switched it to KO EX-1 radio. It seems fine so far.)
Anyone could help me out?

Make sure to adjust the brakes to full (max). I know Spektrum defaults to 50% brake on some models, so must be turned all the way up for the MMM to see it.

I found on my KO EX-5UR the Mamba Pro and MMM would not calibrate with the throttle set to normal on the radio, only with it set to reverse.

But on the Mamba Monster Max in my Savage Flux, you know what I got the identical scenario! (And this is an ESC which works fine with over 250 runs under it's belt) Thankfully the ESC was already calibrated from my DX3S days but no, on these KO 2.4ghz radios you can't set the end point in brake calibration on the MMM. On the MM Pro it seems ok.

But, like you, it runs fine once calibrated with another radio!

I'd love to see what the Castle boys input on this is, I suspect it's a software thing as the newer Mamba Max Pro seems happy on it.

But in both cases, both ESC's needed to be set to throttle in reverse to even attempt to calibrate.

I suspect that as these KO 2.4ghz are fairly new and not all that common, it could just be an issue Castle isn't aware of. Hopefully they read this post and it's addressed by way of a software update.

Could it be a "UR" mode problem similar to "HRS" mode on futaba? Is there a setting for the response time in the KO? I have been considering a KO radio but would like to know if it will give problems like this.

@fastbaja5b; how do you like the KO compaired to the Spektrum?

I just spent a bunch of time trying to calibrate my new MMM to a Ko Propo EX-5 UR, with a KR-407S receiver. My MMM was on firmware V1.22. I flashed it back to V1.21 and I was able to calibrate it. However, it calibrates fine with my Airtronics radio, regardless of the firmware version. It's definitely something that the MMM does not like about the Ko Propo radio.

Downside on the KO radios is you cant slow it down to a 11mps response (std) it'll only run on the "HRS"style 5.5mps

Which also means you can't use std servos, digital only!

Thanks guys. I do set my KO throttle reversed. I even readjusted the variable resisters on my transmitter; not working. It may be worth a shot to downgrade firmware and then upgrade back.

I'll also give that a go on the Flux

On the Mamba Pro it didn't calibrate with the firmware installed on the unit when it arrived (which I think was released around the same time as the latest MMM firmware) but the latest firmware for the MM Pro did calibrate (and off memory I don't think there was a MMM update at the same time)

Hmm...I think I'm having the same problems, tried all sorts to calibrate my MMM to my KO Propo Helios EX-10 that has a Spektrum module in it. Regardless of EPA values of 90-150 on throttle and brake and normal or reverse on the throttle channel, it's not having it!!

Should I roll back to v1.21, or is there a fix for this now?

I think this is related to another issue we saw with a VBar controller on helis. We are already working on a fix.

Sure, I emailed some details and the link to this thread to Castle. They're working on a fix. Cheers Castle!

Hello folks,

Just to let you know I have the same issue trying to calibrate a Spektrum DX3S with a Mamba Max

V1.21 works fine but any later will not recognise throttle or brake when running the setup

Changing EPA's does not make any difference (when set at 100% on v1.21 it works fine)

Looking forward to a fix as I would like to try the later vers that allows programming through the servo lead rather than the usb port

Cheers

Hmm...does that mean that using the MMM ESC firmware v1.21 will not allow me to use the castlelink to programme it?
