9xl vs. castle 2200 motors

I run the 9xl but am curious how much better the 2200 Castle motor is. Will it really run that much cooler and more efficient(longer)? I also use a MM w/ UBEC on 4 cells.

I tried the XL's and Novaks prior to all my Castle motors and there is NO COMPARISION They are more efficient, run cooler and you'll find they have even more power with the same packs.

OBTW, I have 6 Castle Monster motors and they are worth every penny I spent

No comparison at all. If you have managed to get a 9xl to work properly you are doing well. The cc2200 is a huge step up, even the 2650 is better and more powerful than a 9xl.

Can I still use my MM? I am sending in one burnt MM for MMPro upgrade. I suspect that would work better, right? Would the 2600 be better on 4 cells or is the heat gunna kick in again?



One last brain picking. Can I safely run a 6-cell 2200 combo on a MMPro?

For either motor in a MT I would suggest a MMM. If you plan to get a MMpro just sell or trade it for a MMM.

Also wondering what the upgrade cost is should I want to send cc a toasted MM and get a mmpro back? I vaugely remember it being 75 bucks? Not sure...

Had you stated in your first post about using a MM/MMP the answers you received would have ben quit a bit different. Alway give as much information as possible when asking for help or opinions

You shouldn'r run a Monster 2200 with a MMP unless you really know what your doing. And besides I think I'll void any warrenty ? Someone will chime in that'll know for sure. Anyway, That motor pulls a LOT of Amps and may exceed the ESC's capacity.
The MMP is for 1/10 scale use but I have heard of of it being used in 1/8 buggys with success on another forum but by experienced hobbists.

Also what kind of batterysyou using (This is Very Important) ...

Some people run the MMPro on 4s in a 1/8 buggy. Temps stay pretty controlled around 130-140F with the fan on. Once the fan is off (either you disconnect it, which there's no reason to do so, or it breaks), it will thermal pretty quickly. On 6s, it consumes much less current and will run cooler ONLY if you run the appropriate motor.
I did my first conversion back when 1/8 brushless was somewhat at it's infancy. Back then, it was recommended to spin the motors to similar rpms that nitro engines ran at (typically 35k-40krpm). At those rpms, motors run hot and runtimes suffered. Now, we've learned more and learned to run brushless motors around 30krpm, give or take a few krpm. That's partially because electric motors make more torque with a broader torque curve than a nitro engine. Keeping that in mind, in order to gain the advantages of cooler running with the MMPro and 6s, you NEED a motor that will spin around 30krpm on 6s. The 2200kV won't do that, so you likely won't be able to run the MMPro with the 2200kV on anything higher than 4s, and even then, the Neu-Castle 2200kV eats a good amount of current, which may still thermal the MMPro even with the fan on, or at least run it fairly hot (160+F).
As with others, I'd recommend an MMM instead (MMPros are popular right now and you should be able to sell it).

I haven't sent it in yet so I'll look into a MMM. I now run Turnigy 2s2p 5200mah 30c hard case packs in a 3905 E-Maxx. Gearing is 17/62 and I run LST wheel/tires.

Your 30k info does apply to the cheaper 2 pole motors. Now if you use a good quality motor, like the cc2200, you can run 5-6s on it and not have heat issues. As long as you can gear the truck to do 40-50mph and have good lipos temps will be fine.

I'd say the MMPro and 2650kv motor on 4s lipo would be a potent combo for a maxx, plenty of speed and power on tap, though the MMM esc would be preferable- or the 1800kv 1512 motor when it becomes available..

My experience with going from Fegaio to neu( close enough to the castle) its about three times the motor, at least twice the torque and half the heat. This was with the 2.5d 1515 I'm sure the 1y will do good as well, It will be faster with the same gearing (1700 for 9XL verses 2200 for the castle) The motor should be able to handle it though
