Got a crawler in trade need help. -

So I ended up trading some stuff for a nice axial crawler. It has a bunch of stuff done to it and I need some help since I am a foreigner when it comes to crawlers. This thing is pretty damn good at crawling the original owner states it won four of the five comps it has been in.
Do I need a three point switch for my third channel for a dig or is a two point suitable? I want to use my dx3-s on it, which has a two point, the dx3-r that it came with has a three point and it acts weird when moving the dig in and out. Probably user error.
Oh anyone here using a TCS tube chassis for an axial? I was curious which would be recommended, the edge or the eclipse. I really like the look of the eclipse.
Also I want to make it a hybrid, similar to the march edition of RC Drivers rock racer. It currently has a novak crwaler esc and 18.5t motor, can I change the rotor in the motor to make it go?
Pictures help I know I will get some up tomorrow morning.

Tekin RS 17.5 Brushless
Who I bought the esc from had done something wrong and it was fried and cooked some more for me. I am sending it in and for the meeantime I figured I would try a Tekin RS with 17.5 brushless motor.
I have some light weight wheels on the way for her this is just for mock-up....but it works.
What gearing did you use with the Tekin set up? What speed vs crawl factor did it have? This thing has a rc4wd dig transmission and servo mount, think it will fit inside the eclipse chassis?
If I come up with any more q's I'll for sure let you know. It was a great article but some info was missing. I really wanted to know how fast it went. In terms of a hybrid that is dome info i would consider important.
The RC4WD trans will fit in but is Uber low geared so you will lose "rock racer" feel - I think you need to build a custom servo mount - iirc it won't fit
I guess I was mid 10 to 20's from a speed perspective... The motor had plenty of power to gear up and down...
Took it out a bit earlier this morning and this thing can seriously climb. Pretty fun for how slow it is. I think I am set on the eclipse chassis. I will be looking to get one here shortly. I have the original transmission, with it, and I could put that back in to make it faster? I believe this novak motor has exchangeable rotors. Would a smaller rotor allow for more speed? I am not looking to break land speed records, just enough to get a little air if I hit a jump.
The original trans will give you a lot more speed... The speed of a motor is set by the windings - you actually want a larger rotor to give you more torque...
Eclipse looks nice... You'd have to limit those shocks though...
I really just don't like the looks of any of the available crawler bodies hence the reason I want to go tuber. If anything I would consider the VW bug body or a CKRC VW body.
I didn't think to consider shock length. The ones on it are quite long.
As for speed I haven't quite figured out how to crawl yet, but I think I will keep the dig on there I have watched a few videos of how they work and thought that it was quite interesting. So until I get that figured out I will think about speed and jumps with another vehicle for now.
So I tore up the body it came with pretty bad yesterday and I have decided that I will be going the tuber route. As for shock travel, I would like to keep them the way they are, they work superbly well crawling as is and I don't want to spend anymore money to configure a new shock set up. So with that said I think the Eclipse gets thrown out so what other companies make a tuber chassis for the Ax10 that looks pretty stellar? FLM?
