SLASH 4x4 diff help - 08.27.2010, 09:45 AM

I'm getting all my trucks ready to take to the beach tomorrow morning, and late last night while getting them ready to pack, I noticed something amiss on one of my Slash's. The truck wouldn't roll with the motor disengaged from the spur. I had just replaced the slipper unit with the center diff, so I knew it wasn't the rear, so I pulled the front end off. I could not turn the input shaft at all.
Now, I'm crunched for time (been rebuilding the Muggy, Flux, and 8T every night for the last week), and need to source some parts at the local LHS, and I'll do the rebuild out at the beach. Anyone have an educated guess as to which parts I should pick up?? I'm almost leaning towards a whole new diff assy, and bearings.

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES

Put the slipper back in there and check the bearings... I had an issue with one CD not running true and binding...

I dont believe that is it as I noticed this prior to pulling the slipper unit, and since I couldn't turn the input shaft of the front diff when I had it completely removed from the truck.

Ring and pinion gear, something along that line. Or a ridiculously seized bearing. I haven't taken apart the diffs on either of my 2 4x4s but I can't imagine it being hard to access the diffs. If the spider gears failed you should still be able to turn the ring and pinion.

You could have bent the front stubs so bad that that part of the drive line has seized, but this would be noticeable with tire wobble.

Do you have any aftermarket parts in that area? If you used a longer screw you could have went through into the diff housing causing it to seize.

Thats all I got!
