single 4s or..... - 10.15.2010, 07:30 PM

hey guys
i have been running a 4s 5000 in my mbx5t and getting 13-14 minute run times. am moving on to a rc8t and thought now might be the time to explore other avenues of power sources to try and break the 15 minute plus mark(to compete in finals-if i every make one) would running 2x 2s 5200s give anymore than a 4s? am running mmm v3 w 2200kv,would the mmm handle 2 x 4s?

cheers

pow

yes, 2 x 2s 5200 would yield 200mah more than a 4s 5000. But 200mah really isn't much, maybe another minute or two of runtime.

The MMM can handle 2 x4s IF THEY ARE WIRED IN PARALLEL (positive to positive and negative to negative) And if you had 2 4s 5000mah batteries wired in parallel it would equal 10,000mah and give you twice the runtime.

The MMM CANNOT handle 2 x 4s wired in series, that doubles the voltage and the voltage limit is 6s. (2 x 4s wired in series equals 8s)

Any other questions?

we have to run hardcase lipos here for events and 4s hardcase lipos are far to expensive for my budget so running 2 2s hc lipos is the next option(hobbyking 2s hardcase packs are cheap and seem to be good value for $)

you're really close to the 15 minute mark already, so the extra 200mah might be enough.

You could also try a pinion with 1 or 2 less teeth. The lighter load might just give you the increase in runtime that you need. But of couirse check temperature often when changing gearing.

Good luck!!
