Just got off the phone with Castle and they confirmed they received my MXL. Said they were still technically waiting for a fix for them and they have people testing them. Charles guessed 3 weeks.

I know I can't be too mad because they're trying to fix the problem BUT I just spent 2 months working on my truck to get it running and LITERALLY the day I'm ready for testing the MXL gets recalled. I send it in and now have to sit and stare at this monstrosity of a paper weight. I should have never sent it in and just used it. Probably ignorant to say but I'm not even using it on the 2028 motor. Looks like snow could be flying before I get this thing running.

Part of the reason that I haven't sent my one in. I figured they would be swamped with repairs at first and the fact I am using it on a 1717 in only a XL Savage should make life pretty easy for the controller. I am just going to use it and see what happens. Maybe after the summer is over I will send it in. Given the fact that spring is only starting here that will be some time away.

I'm kicking myself for not taking your approach and actually thinking about buying one I found to use until the repairs are being done.

Are you running your 1717 on 6S or 8S?

For the start I will run a few packs through it on 6S and just make sure everything is fine and then up the ante on 8S. I have quite a few 4S packs here waiting to be used. LOL. Anyway I am not even the slightest worried about the ESC. What ever happens to it happens. I am using it within it's specified parameters and anything that might happen to it should be covered by the warranty. I am more worried about the motor. 1717 don't grow on trees. If I blow it on 8S I think I will just cry but I am hoping that Castle was being a little bit conservative on the RPM limit. If the worst happens and I do toast the 1717 I still have a 1520 sitting on the shelf.

You're only pushing it 5-8k past the rated RPM and I would hope that the 45k limit isn't the EXACT max it can handle.

I just sent in 4 brand new MXL's and now to hear I'm going to have $1k+ in esc's collecting dust there until they get a "fix"? That just doesn't put me in a happy place.

With a bit of load and voltage drop I doubt it would even be that much over. Well thats my theory.

So what's this I hear? They are still working on a fix???? I thought they had the fix already and that is why they did the recall. Now it seems that they did the recall without even having fully engineered a solution yet. Can't be right, can it???

Of course it can, get the flamethrowers of the street fast before a huge lawsuit by saying we already have the fix with a 1-2 day turnaround, then.......

Oh well, I haven't had the desire to run an rc in months so I guess I can wait on it, but I know alot of people won't be happy.

Lawsuits???? I doubt you could successfully sue an ESC manufacturer because it went up in flames. If anyone does successfully sue Castle please let me know as I might sue the others as well for all the ESCs that I had go up in flames. Fat chance.

I agree, I sent mine in and it completely ticks me off that now I hear another few weeks it may take. Why would Patrick say a couple days and then the repair dept say they are still working on a fix. Um...my V2 was working fine...send the damn thing back so I can play......and I will mail it back for the update when the snow is flying here in Nebraska.

Patrick....any chance you can clear things up. Got some unhappy guys that were led to believe the fix would not take long....mine has been about 3 weeks now....with no report on an actual return date. Frustrating is an understatement.

Kirk --

I understand, and apologize. The fix shouldn't take long -- we are happy with the new control boards, and have tested extensively in the Baja.

I'm just back from China, so I'll check on status.

Thanx!

Patrick...I already have my eye on the new Losi 5ive T. It is a 4wd 5th scale truck that I plan to own. Only , I will be converting it to brushless. How about Castle making a brushless conversion kit for the Losi 5ive????

I can't get it why people can't wait.
It is great Castle does "offer" the Service Advisories" and don't let there customer "wait" until the product does burn....

Thanks Castle !

kind regards

Mirko
