5s and 6s Lipo question

I'm about to buy some new batteries for my D8T.

Is there a difference between using a single 5s 5000mah battery and using two batteries 2s+3s of the same make, model, mah, c rating?

I ask this question because I would also like to run 6s also. This way I could buy a few 2s and 3s packs and have 5s and 6s confirgurations.

Is having additional battery connections less efficient?

personally i prefer to have 1 pack rather than 2.

charging 2 packs is alot more hassle than 1 pack, plus the balance of 2 packs is more crucial,

for instance nearing the end of a run, one pack could still have lots of mah left while the other is running close to nothing.

the esc see's good voltage but the higher pack could be pushing the lower pack.
this would damage both packs.
and as you say that means more connectors and longer wires too = more resistance and more loss + heat

i run mine with 5s or 6s packs...but then i have room for it.

The only concern I would have with this, aside from having the extra connections and added charging complexity, is cell usage. If some cells are used more than others, those cells will age faster and may hit LVC before the other cells do, but since the ESC sees the overall voltage it may allow the older/more used cells to get lower than you'd like.

I will be buying new 2s and 3s batteries for this and they will all be charged seperatly. I just like the idea of being able to switch from 5s to 6s without paying $100-150 for one battery.
