New RPM bulkheads for Maxx trucks

The first version of RPM's new Maxx bulkheads are flawed

They did their R&D using only the T-Maxx chassis and never test fit onto any E-Maxx.

Both front and read fasteners are 4mm too short that connect to the chassis.

The rear as other have said needs to be dremel'ed a lot to fit.

They know these issues now

My 3906 chassis with the 3903 steering upgrade
They might fit without cutting if your using the stock 3906 steering




3x20mm bolts in stead of the 3x16mm for the chassis

Hey Morten! Have you seen what Traxxas has done to the stock bulkhead? It is much stronger. It has been improved in three ways. If they had released this version back in the beginning aluminum bulls would not be what they are today. I imagine the new traxxas bulks are better than these new ones from RPM.

I got a set of the grey bulkheads and I did compare them to the 3906 ones
I bought the RPM ones for 2 reasons
: They come in black
: I didn't want to dye the grey bulkheads

Did I mention they look cool too ...he he
Oh and I wanted to see how strong the actually were

awhh don't tell me this :( i have a set of blue ones to pick up at my LHS. I have a 3906 with the new upgraded steering also. What has to be modified to make the new rpm bulkheads to fit?

I don't want to dremel some new rpm bulkheads to have them void the warranty

Silver5 over at Traxxas forum mailed them and here's what he poster today

RPM emailed today saying that the new redesigned bulkheads are done and now in stock

I'd tell the guys at your hobby shop to get the first version replaced with the upgraded version
If I knew this when I bought mine, I'd have waited 'till now

On the front
You need to cut the triangle off of the back in the steering side
and use 3x20mm bolts for the chassis

On the back
the fin where you mount the tower, that lines up with the chassis
you need to trim that so it's flush with the chassis
and use 3x24mm bolts for the chassis

If you buy both front and rear, you only need four 3x25mm countersunk bolts
you can use the 3x20mm from the rear bulk on the front

Ugh i hate to go there and not buy them, but i also dont feel like buying a bunch more screws and having to cut stuff up. Im gonna stop in tomorrow and let him know and see if he can order me up a new set of F&R

I'd never buy flawed parts when I know they already fixed them
and the new version are in stock

I just put these on about a week ago. I got in contact with RPM and they sent me the proper screws and said if the bulkheads ever failed even though I modified them they would still replace them. My biggest gripe was that the directions didn't tell you that you would have to cut chassis
