Stampede necessities? (pede gurus please help me) - 04.13.2006, 08:31 AM

Hi guys,
I want to hook up some friends to RC, and I thought of getting some Stampedes.

What are the most common parts to break? What should I get right from the start?

What performance can I expect from the stock electronics?

Keep in mind, it's for RC newbies. So no need for mad BL power. But I would like to get them trucks that won't break any other run.

Thank you
DAF

The Stampedes are pretty tough. I don't have one but a guy I know has one. If they are going to be racing. Get some flm arms or rpm. Also maybe if they are going to run on dirt I would say get Pro-Line dirt hawgs 2. I have some and they haven't worn out yet.

If you are running stock electronics, the only upgrade you really need is a rpm bumper.

If you will be doing lots of jumping, you'll need to get big bore aluminum shock caps.

Another good all-around upgrade is rpm bearing carriers and bearings for the axles. The stock bushings will wear out rather quickly.

The pede was my first truck. I agree. You will want the RPM front bumper and front/rear RPM carries. The other thing I broke on my truck the second time it was out was the steering servo. Mine came with the 2018 which is junk. I think since they have upgrade the steering servo to the 2055 but not 100% sure on that. That was my second upgrade.

These are cool little trucks.

Steering servo, that's the main one, but go with some RPM Losi LXT front arms in the front to widen it up. Then move the stock steering links up to the camber link position, and put Maxx turnbuckles on for steering. Run front wheels all around and it'll be much more stable, and will even ride a bit higher too.

bulkheads and front shock caps seem to break the most
the stock bumbper could be improved too

if had one for 4 years now. never broken anything on it. the only aftermarket parts are the new titan 12t and the XL-5 that come on new ones. those trucks are tough as nails.

I agree with the above. I have a pede for my 5 yo son. The best hop ups I think are to outfit it with bearings and RPM bearing carriers. The wide RPM front bumper is also great and can prevent a lot of carnage.

LOL, seems like a lot of that happening lately! It's ok though, it's nice to see topics emerge!

Flat out the electrons are incredable for the money my friend has one and they do like 25mph and they only are 170 bucks. As far as parts rpm arms would be nice but the stock ones are pretty tough the bumper is good. But the main thing you need to get is shocks the shock caps pop off constantly. I think if you do not want to spend a fourtune you can get a set of 4 aluminum duratrax evader shocks for $20 bucks. these trucks are pretty tough my friend jumped it off alot and ran it in to trees and drove it away the only things he vas broke are the shocks and one arm. O also get some extra spurs every once in a while the pure power of the 12t 550 motor will chew that thing to shreds.
